Could be. Seems the wear and tear from injuries is taking its toll. He'll have to take more risks setting up powershots than those pitty patty combos that takes up more energy.

Martinez could be done or Murray did perfect Barker's style to make Martinez look bad. But as everyone is saying, next year, will be worst for him since he is getting older. Would love to see GGG vs Martinez before he retires though. I am sure GGG won't bring that kind of style to the table and would play into Martinez style or Martinez hands down style will play into GGG's style.

  3. Martinez is shot, his times are over .. a fight against Sturm or rematch against Pavlik and then he should retire.
GGG would literally destroy Martinez and shatter his glass jaw. Sergio should retire before facing Golovkin if he want to be remembered as the one he used to be.

Odd how some are calling for him to retire. Athletes always think they can have one final great effort within them. Coupled with the ability to earn a pile of money and the inevitable prospect of retirement seems unlikely if not unreasonable.

You also have to cinsider all the people involved with him that stand to benefit financially if he continues fighting. They will get every foot of mileage out of him possible, unfortunately.

it really sucks that he got to the big stage so late in his career. i think prime Maravilla vs Maywheather could of been a great fight.

People are writing him off too soon.

Or at least writing him off for the wrong reasons

The end has been coming for awhile. Hes been declining, and the injuries, layoffs, ect, only escalate the issue of Martinez fighting with an athletics based style with quickly declining athletics.

They should have one farewell fight and say Adios, retire as a beloved champion, otherwise, he will be losing in his next 3 fights.

Things dont look good, 2 lay offs in a row, 2 injuries in a row, 2 fights where he took some real punishment in a row and i think he has been exposed

Murray showed us a formula to use to beat Martinez and I think a lot of top fighter can replicate it

Why are you putting a Sergio Martinez discussion here? Everyone knows this is the Floyd Mayweather - Canelo Alveraz forum.
