This content is protected Timestamped round 2 Stumbled across this fight on YouTube and rewatched it. I was amazed at Bakole's work rate in round 2. Couldn't find any CompuBox numbers for this fight so I decided to count the punches myself and I counted 150 thrown punches from Bakole. Has any heavyweight ever thrown more punches than this in a single round? I checked the stats for Kownacki vs Arreola (couldn't find round by round stats for Ibeabuchi vs Tua), but they still didn't touch that number in a single round.
I vaguely remember Vitali Klitschko setting a record for most punches by a heavyweight in a round. It may well have been surpassed several times since then, though.
I don't know but 280lb Kodiak Bear Bakole is scary, that right uppercut left hook combo for the KD was beautiful, and Shevadzutsky is crazy tough. One of the best displays of chin and toughness you will ever see from a fighter getting stopped early.
I love watching Bakole and he has an instinct for finishing for sure. I am, however, concerned that as his level of opponent improves, he may be found out. He appears to have a good engine IF he's allowed to dictate the pace, and his defense seems very like Big Joe Joyce's was, it's his granite head!! Even in the clip shown, against a tough, but limited opponent, he took a few shots, flush ones at that. I really rated Joyce but I had assumed he would improve and push on from the Parker fight, not fall in love with his chin and assume victory based on 'power' and attrition. I think Bakole is better than Joyce, much better output and punch variation and he can be cute in defence, takes shots on arms and shoulders and rolls off of some of them, but he still looks like a stoppage waiting to happen. You can trust your chin till you can't, and there is rarely a road back from that moment. I have the big man down as a very intersting, very exciting prospect for now and will follow his career with interest.
