Is this the worst run of opponents ever for a reigning world champion?

The actual title defenses aren't half bad. Can't believe how far you're going to tear them down.

No offence pal but i've stated a number of times that this thread is not about debating with blinkered Toney fanboys, its just about seeing if a reigning world champion has ever put together a more farcial run of consecutive opponents whilst champion of the world.

If you wish to post again in this thread then please leave your insults and foul language to one side, thanks.

Stating that fans want to watch elite fighters take on cans whilst world champion is one of the most laughable things i've ever heard, I can only presume your a teenager who has just watched all Rocky films back to back.

No, your a fanboy who is trying to de-rail the thread topic, either contribute a champions record with 10 consecutive opponents that is equally laughable or go and troll in a different thread where the author doesn't mind.

Back in the day many boxers fought at a high activity level including non title fights against unworthy opponents.

I can't be bothered checking through history but Rosenbloom will have a comparable run at some point and he's one of the greatest LHW's in hsitory.

It's quality though, not quantity. I'm bothered about the good names he did beat as opposed to the crap names he did beat.

    ^^
(Dude who's too unintelligent, ignorant, and committed to a shitty online shtick to acknowledge the fact that the non-title fights were basically part of Toney's training)

How ****in pathetic. You got a perfectly reasonable answer, and all you do is try to make it about the level of opposition. When you stay active, you can do this. It keeps a fighter sharp. But you've made it obvious you're into trolling, and not actually looking at this realistically or to be serious. troll away....

He seems to have difficulty understanding the thread topic. Hopefully he'll return to the lounge soon.

Listen buddy, if you want to start a thread to debate James Toney then go ahead. My soul interest in this thread was trying to find a reigning champion who had put together a run of 10 consecutive opponents that are are of worse calibre than the ones highlighted. I'm not interested in debating the ins and outs and who's and why's, the facts are there in black and white and i'm interested in hearing from posters who can contribute other examples. If you're able to contribute to the thread then please do pal, if not then stop the spamming and petty insults please.

OK..fine. If this pointless and actually useless stat is actually what intersests you, more power to ya! Byt spare me the bull****. You may be able to fool some of the dumber posters, but that's not going to work for me. If you were serious about this topic, you'd pick guys who made **** defenses in the same time allotment that great champs do. Look at Andre Berto for that. Crap defenses in the schedule regular fighters go at it. But the fact that you go to james Toney, and ignore the frequency at which those ten took place, and therefore try to make a negative about it shows, as I said, you aren't serious. If someone like Floyd fought 12 times in one year, with 9 of them being scrubs, and the other 3 top caliber fighters, then that's fine. But I doubt you get it. And get off your high horse while your at it....

When a fighter remains as active as Toney was during that time, not all their opponents are going to be top 10, or even worthy.

-He fought Chavers in March of 93'

-Ricky Thomas less than a month later in Mid-April 93'

    -Glenn Thomas in June 93'

-Danny Garcia 7 weeks later in July 93'

-Prather less than a month later in August 93'

-Thornton 2 months later in October 93'

-Hembrick he finally gave himself a little time off and waited 2 1/2 months till Mid-January 94'

-With Littles he went back to around 7weeks between fights fighting him at the beginning of March 94'

-Durham was about 2 1/2 months later in Mid-May 94'

    -Williams again 2 1/2 months later in Mid-July 94'

That's 10 fights in a year and 4 month period, unheard of in today's world champions. Staying busy use to be a normal occurrence, now apparently it gets champions accused of fighting nothing but bums.
