Is this version of DeLaHoya even close to prime?

Oscar drained himself, Oscar picked the weight, Oscar cherrypicked A smaller man to beat up

It was a case of cherry pick gone wrong, badly wrong. Floyd is bigger than pac so he is not in the same disadvantage position fighting against a 154lb like pacquiao would be.

Don't talk about the fight like it was Pacquiao who got Oscar down a weight, it was oscar who was the one to get pacquiao up two weights and himself down a weight.

But that version of ODH was done

No, de la Hoya "left" his prime behind after the 2nd Mosley fight. He was already semi-retired when he fought Mayweather, and was 18 months further semi-retired when he fought Pacquiao. Both wins are overrated, in my opinion. Neither are top 5 wins by either of them.

It is obvious though as to why you don't see the same Oscar in the fights. Aside from years going by, which is obvious, Mosley was there to be hit and didn't move laterally at all, therefore the jab becomes the ideal weapon. When Mayweather moves laterally, the jab is ineffective. I know de la Hoya tightened up some of the earlier rounds, but damn, round 1 was an ass beating. Horrible judging for that to be a SD. It was no closer than 8-4 Mayweather.

De la Hoya's last fight at 147 had been Arturo Gatti in 2001.

7 years and 9 months passed before de la Hoya returned to welterweight to face Pacquiao.

    That is a monumental issue.

There aren't many examples of fighters returning to a weight class after 7+ years. Name 'em if you can.
