I heard some ****** moron say P4P= If the fighters were the same size and weight.. who will win in a mythical fight.

He than went on to say that if Pernell was as big as Ali, Lewis or Wladimir, Pernell will beat them.

But that's utterly ******ed because you can't just 'super size' Pernell Whitaker to 6'5 240 and expect him to do the same things he did at 5'6 130... that's ****ing absurd and mind bloggingly idotic.

If Pernell was 6'5 and 240.. he will just be a bigger version of Chris Byrd.. with slightly better defense.. He'll still get dominated and shut out by any of the top 20 Heavyweight ATGS...

Nah that's ridiculous. That's too much of a difference. Imagining someone like De La Hoya vs Mike McCallum wouldn't be that bad..if you imagine they're the same size, but someone like Finito Lopez vs Muhammad Ali haha.

Pernell won't be Pernell of reality.

 

But what the holy ****? Of course smaller guys will LOOK more skilled.
I already stated in a thread a whiles back regarding one particular instance in two separate boxing matches..

Pernell Whitaker vs Oscar De La Hoya.. he did a shoulder roll and slipped a punch.
Lewis did the same thing against Shannon Briggs in the mid rounds and he countered with a combination dropping Briggs..

They did the exact same move.. but because Pernell is 135 and 5'6.. it looked much flashier and faster.


A Wladimir Jab is obviously not going to LOOK as fluid and skilled as a Mayweather Jab.. I mean the smaller you are.. the more fluid and athletic you look. that's basic physics.

 

Exactly.. so p4p is absurd if judged that way. The Bigger Divisions work differently. you rarely see Heavyweights take the punishments of a Gatti-Ward because at that weight class the power is just so much more devastating than the lower weights .. in that a brutal exchange will usually leave one heavyweight hurt and ready to go..

People talk about Rigo.. what about that Cuban super heavy 6'4 Erislandy Savon? The way a 6'4 Savon moves and counters seem much more skilled and impressive than someone who's 5'4 and have all the advantages of physics working in his favor.

 

Exactly.. I think because of the lack of HW Stars in America most boxing fans from this generation have no idea how Heavyweights work.. the power generated at heavyweight is so brutal.. people just don't understand the shocking skill set needed to fight at elite level.

Look at Lewis-Klitschko.. the punishment both men took would have wiped out today's entire 140 Division.. the entire Division..........
