I think most aficionados know that Kostya Tszyu is one of the most overrated fighters in the last two decades. Is Tim already being overrated like his dad was despite not having too many good wins ? I watched a few of his fights . He’s just not that good , and severely lacking in many criteria primarily defensive skills. Hate to be blunt but he just isn’t a world beater no matter how you slice it. You can tell just from watching him Discuss I think it’s only a matter of time until a Vince Phillips shows up and spoils Tim’s party.
He can’t defend , and that will be his downfall when he fights better fighters . A Vince Phillips will show up and render him unconscious on the canvas
Hes alright , definitely not p4p material but he was a good champion . Definitely not anywhere ATG He had fine skills for the time
I’ll just say there’s a reason why I have one of the highest vcashes on the site , I can tell whose good and who ain’t, I’ll just say a Vince Phillips is going to show up sooner or later
Kostya was a great fighter with a lot of good wins. Tim is the more overrated of the two. To be fair, I have only seen three of his fights and, while he obviously has talent, I don't quite see greatness in him. That being said, you don't have to be great to be a world champion and he will be a world champion. The question is whether or not Tim will continue improving as a champion.
I don't think Tim is overrated. I think he is very good. Certainly better than either Charlo brother. I was very impressed by his fight with Terrell Gausha. He looked absolutely great coming back after the knockdown. Almost nobody even looks good against Gausha - even when they do beat him. I'm saying Tszyu looked great against Gausha coming back after that knockdown. He looked better than Lara did, actually. But he is a slow starter, and I'm not sure he always has the best idea of when to put his foot on the gas. I was kind of disappointed at his fight with Harrison, even if he did ultimately beat him by stoppage. Even in round 7 he was showing Tony far too much respect. Harrison is not a big hitter and he'd slid a bit from when he took the belt off Charlo years earlier. Tszyu could have gotten him out of there 2-3 rounds earlier than he did.
When it comes to Kostya, I believe he wipes the floor with everyone from 135 to 140. When it comes to Tim, I think he is talented but doesn't quite have the "it" factor to challenge the likes of Ortiz, Crawford, Ennis, Spence, Jermell, Thurman, and a few others from 160
