could have been if he stopped at cw there were some good lagacy building fights that would have made his record look great but he went to hw for the money he really was undersized at hw
YES he was a two weight world champion at Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight The jump from Light Heavyweight to Cruiserweight is the 2nd hardest in boxing (after Cruiser to Heavyweight) His longevity as a world class top 10 fighter in 3 divisions for well over a decade was very impressive. I think if the likes of Timothy Bradley, Naseem Hamed and Ray Mancini are in the hall of fame. Then Adamek deserves to be in there for sure. Maybe the Hall of Fame dislikes Polish fighters. Dariusz Michalczewski should clearly be in the HOF, that one isn't up for debate.
Yes. Linear champ at cruiserweight, champ at light heavyweight, contender at HW despite being much smaller. Always in exciting fights, never dull to watch.
He has an argument 6 world title wins at Light Heavyweight/Cruiserweight. And a good P4P achievement moving up to Heavyweight and becoming a top 5 contender at one point. Problem I have is I wouldn't rate him that highly at any of the weightclasses he actually competed at he wouldn't be considered a great in any of them. So it depends on your criteria.
Yea two controversial decisions vs Briggs and got dominated by Dawson He did beat Cunningham who should be highly rated at cruiserweight though. I dont know if Adamek spent enough time there or racked up enough big wins to be rated there so I do agree with your point about his all time rank in the weights he fought at
Oh, he is a cruiserweight great, with wins over 2 champions in O’neill Bell and Cunningham, the latter of which was a great cruiserweight himself. He spent too little time in the division, but that’s the case for a lot of cruisers. I’d favour Goral over the likes Huck, Lebedev, Diablo, Hernandez, Dorticos, and Haye too.
For me there's only truly been 2 great fighters at Cruiserweight being Usyk, Holyfield. The others for fall under the good to very good category IMO.
Interesting. I would have leaned toward "probably not" back in 2017 when this was made (with the memory of his very hit or miss heavyweight run still fresh in mind), but now that's shifted to "probably'. As others have said, worse and less accomplished fighters are in. He isn't a first ballot lock or anything. But in his prime he only lost to Dawson and is a top 6-10ish h2h cruiser of all time.
By my standard no. however, the boxing ''hall of fame'' is borderline the WWF or E hall of fame...WCW? Steve Collins Ricky Hatton Amir Khan Chris Eubank are all ''hall of famers'' all of whom were good fighters with very solid careers but hall of fame resumes or talents? NO hence why it is pointless. so, you may as well rename it the hall of borderline very good. which in that case, I think you can put Adamek in it.
