He was excellent inside fighter and had good sense of distance. Quite heavy handed, as can be seen in fights against Squires and Moir. He had some decent wins against: Philadelphia Jack O'Brien Marvin Hart Bill Lang Jim Flynn He was KOed only once in his career - by the great Jack Johnson. His resume isn't great, but he was good fighter of his times.
In some ways he was a victim of his own success. He gets remembered as the most diminutive heavyweight champion, while he should be remembered as a pound for pound great!
