my good friend on this forum JAB5239 made a comment on the other forum saying, "If Tommy Morrison had a better chin he would be up there with the All Time Greats of the sport"... What would you make of such a comment, is he correct or off his head.

Well, I won't go for any speculation about Morrison and "if he had a better chin" and all that jazz...you know, if I had an apple tree, I'd be able to make an apple pie, ..etc., but i will say that Morrison's best effort wasn't a fight with all those big ko's he scored but when he fought "with his head" and outpointed old George Foreman...BEFORE Foreman shocked the world with his ko of Moorer. Morrison, to his everlasting credit, was smart enough to move and box constantly...keeping to the script of a winning game plan, unlike the foolish Michael Moorer, who put his chin right on the chopping block and suffered the humiliation of being a young stud getting his ass handed to him by a guy who held the heavyweight title twenty years before. Morrison scored a quality win by rejecting his original style and boxing smart for a win...even if he only did this one time in his career.

No. Morrison,no matter what his chin was like, would never have been anymore than yet another contender.

Break and flush the crack-pipe down the toilet and step outside for some fresh air... Morrison was okay for the 1990s, but never close to becoming great.... Losses to "Mercer, Bentt and Lewis" ruined them chances...

No...absolutely NO to Morrison being anywhere near the all time greats.

not going to speculate on Jab but no way in hell is Morrison up there. he's barely up there with the best of his own era let alone all time.

Morrison wasnt much of a boxer at all. He was so powerful with his lefthook but pretty horrible with the rest of his punches. His combinations were almost slap like and his ability to go deep in a fight was terrible. Morrison was an exciting fighter, but he was really a one trick pony with the lefthook, but it was a good one.

I will say that a young (1991-1993) Morrison when trained was able to throw pretty good combo's on the inside when matched against a stiff or slow-poke fighter..... Morrison did walk-thru a shot Pinky Thomas in 1991 and also rattled Ray Mercer's cage early on before getting clipped in the fight.... And we all know Morrison boxed the fight of his career when he out-pointed a painfully slow 256 lb. Foreman in Vegas during the summer of 1993....

Morrison owned some skills, but his chin and focus will always be questioned... Also, rumors indicate he was roiding pretty hard in his heyday, too...

Morrison always threw combos, primarily the body head combo, but often times the combo never had the juice his hook had on it. He got some serious leverage on that thing. Morrison was definitely a heavy juicer.

Hell no. First off, we can't ignore his chin, saying "if he didn't have that bad of a chin" is on par with saying "if he didn't have such a good left hook." He's certainly a high quality boxer, but ATG? Not even close.

Is this what I've reduced you to, trolling threads based on a lie because I've whooped you in all other debates. Why don't you post a link to this thread I supposedly made this claim in?

I made a claim saying if Morrison had a better chin he may have been up there with the all time greats. I hadn't thought it out entirely through and when it was pointed out about his lack of D, questionable stamina and terrible training habbits. I will stand by my assertion that offensively he was a beast though.

you are telling lies now JAB... you made the comment "if Morrison had a better chin he would be up there with the All time Greats of the Sport".... you are now trying to move the goalposts and avoid my ridicule for that comment... the reason i made this thread is because every time you log onto this forum you immediately go to my profile and check-out my posts then you try to belittle everything i have posted.. you repeatedly start topics in an attempt to ridicule me like you have done with the Langford vs Pep resume" thread.... no matter if Langford himself posted on that topic i would still say Willie Pep had the greatest prime record of 134-1-1... but i have never ever came out with a Howler like this Tommy Morrison quote of yours and it shows exactly what your knowledge of this sport is JAB because take away Boxrec and you would be in the long grass my friend with not a single ounce of boxing knowledge in your thick head. you would have your Langford book and your Tommy Morrison career dvd set... you are a dick head so get a life you sad little creep instead of lying and trolling
