Calderon as boring, it's just because he has eff all power and has absolute control of distance. I guess if lead uppercuts doesn't cancel that out for you there's no fixing it. But he really is powderpuff. Flush power punches from a near perfect stance and nothing happens.
Yeah, there are some strawweights you'd absolutely want on your team in a barroom brawl (Chocolatito for instance). Calderon would be most useful as a human shield to absorb broken bottle thrusts.
MCGRAIN!!!! Drink a beer, and enjoy Caldy squeeze some more gas out of his empty tank... Take it all in and remember the good old days when no one could touch him =)
Calderon is shot to pieces. Calderon is a guy who relies on movement and at 37, he can't keep moving for 12 rounds. I'm not sure he gets stopped tonight but I'd wouldn't surprise me. My prediction is Calderon loses tonight by decision.
Yeah you might be right. I think Calderon will do well for about 3-4 rounds before the wheels come off the bus. Calderon might win a decision but lose badly. Either way if he can't beat Fuentes legitimately he should not be fighting anymore.
These are the most depressing fights to watch... when you know it's just a matter of time before the overpowered, shop-worn, once-great veteran gets walked down and eviscerated by his hungry, youthful opponent. It's just the way the game rolls.
Well, you could see that one coming. It's been a great career for Calderon though. He just didn't have the factors to age in the sport gracefully (relying on moving around for 12 rounds, giving up a huge size difference every fight, having very little power, etc.). Hard to see him struggle in his fights down the stretch, but in the end, he had a great career.
