Now....I know what you're thinking....But hear me out. How many guys have been ranked Top 10 by the WBC, as a LHW, CW and then HW? With more luck with timing (Well a fair bit of luck), it's mad that he was so close to being a 3 weight World Champion.
But its not rankings that count, its belts and career defining wins So when you are actually look at Bellends career, he has some legacy at LHW and CW yes. Biggest win at LHW is Chilemba, biggest win at CW is Makabu. The legacy at CW hurt badly by ducking the WBSS. He has no legacy off the back of beating an injured shot to bits Haye on a cash grab twice at HW. We need to see who he faces next at HW to see if he can achieve some legacy there, however I doubt he faces anyone who is a threat.
people say Stevenson hasn't beat anyone. He knocked Bellews head off, thus on this forum bellew is seen as a bum.
As destruction says, Bellew's career is all smoke and mirrors. He won the WBC belt fighting for a vacant title against a soft touch in Makubu whose best wins were against an ancient Glen Johnson and the glass jawed Mchunu. He defended it once against BJ Flores. BJ Flores, who has never had a meaningful win and came into the fight with Bellew off the back of a win against Mexican midget Roberto Santos. His run at Light Heavy was equally mediocre but without the talking point of a belt. Smashed to bits by Stevenson, he spent the rest of the time feasting on euro journeymen and on two of the most depressing fights ever committed to video against Cleverly. The second fight was abysmal. They were both utterly gassed by round five and spent the last seven rounds in slow motion. As for Bellew at heavyweight, nobody takes that seriously. It consists of taking 7 rounds to beat a one legged cripple and another five rounds to beat a pitiful shadow of that cripple held together with flour and water.
