Is Tony Jeffries injured or something?

He was going to fight Nathan King a couple of weeks ago but had to pull out due to injury.

 

Frank wants fighters who sell tickets first and foremost. He's not sold on Tony imo that's why he's moving him a lil slow.

We must remember he didn't sign him at first it was Dennis Hobson's Fight Academy. So maybe he's not to sold on him but knows he sells good number of tickets so he will push him out for a while then step him up..i don't see him going beyond European Level at the moment...just don't see many levels to his ability. Exciting to watch though.

 

Could well be. 19th might be a touch too soon I guess.

He was due to box Nathan King over 6 so hopefully they can rearrange that cos he's a decent opponent.

Not that I'm aware of... I was gonna wait and see who it was before buying a ticket.

The show in Liverpool should be decent, two good fights at the top, plus Bellew and the two young Smiths.

 

Precisely it unfortunately. He's a pretty big name up here and Maloney is clearly tapping into the Sunderland fanbase in a similar way that Warren/Hatton did with the Man City fans so I reckon we can expect plenty more "Eurobums" for him, which is a shame as his other Olympians are being moved along very nicely by Warren. :-(

 

I'm at two shows on the bounce with the echo and then Leigh the week after. Strong scouse contingent on both so couldnt really say no

 

If that's the case he ought to have a word.

Obviously I can't speak for his character, but I'd hate to see all my peers/former teammates prospering and looking at title fights in the next 12 months whilst I was smacking around clowns in a half empty sports hall.

I guess if he feels that's the best way for him to progress..... but I have my reservations :-(

Well if Nathan King was/is going to be his next opponent, he isn't going to be brought on that slowly. He may be slightly behind the other 'Olympians', but he won't be that slow to progress IMO.

Prospects need to start being given MUCH TOUGHER TESTS. These guys go from fighting the best in the world to complete bums. I wish I didn't have to say that but some of their opponents are literally there to fall over.

They don't improve at the right rate. More needs to be asked of these guys. They are ****ing Olympians and ABA champs. The best our country and the world have to offer and they dick around. In MMA guys are called upon to deal with adversity much quicker.

Glad to see Groves fighting for the Commonwealth. Get in the mix nice and quick. Defend against Dilks, maybe one other and then fight Dodson, Smith etc

 

I think he's gone back, I don't think working with Bobby Rimmer has helped him at all.

Maloney is the worst in the business in terms of moving opponents forward.

Look at the opposition Groves has faced on his two Maloney cards. And David Price's best opponent was the guy he beat on his debut.

Anyway, whats your thoughts on Jeffries, I think he is under rated by allot on here. Clearly powerful, good jab, huge for a super middle. i reckon he can get to euro level.
