Is too much/not enough made of Marciano having being down twice?

Ten Hoff would have been an interesting visual. He had the effective use of height, reach and mobility lacking in most heavyweights of his stature during that era, and even got JJW on the front foot. (Would anybody who previously saw Louis-Walcott I & II have ever expected that?) He defended against guys who deserved shots, and Henry, Valdes, Walls and Baker simply couldn't failed to break through at the crucial moments. It's no coincidence that he made four of his six defenses against champions who knew how to win when it mattered most.

That's the same left hook that KO'd Charles and allowed Walcott to win the title...BUT...
The Rock got up...and he came back to win...something Tyson did not do!!! Lots of fighters get knocked down and then they get rattled....especially if it's your first time...not Rocky...Moore said it might have been the best right he threw in his career...Marciano went down...got up...and went on to win...

It is quite telling in itself, if a fighters critics have to attack them based on things that happened in fights that they won.

It shows that they don't have a whole lot to work with in terms of the fights that they lost.

That's half baked and you know it ...

Marciano was a terrific fighter and an all time great pound for pound heavyweight .. give the man the credit he's due and let the rest be ...

marciano was a great fighter. he could have fought at 220 IMO and still been killer in any era. got dropped twice, 2 perfect punches, everybody gets dropped, except for the bronx bull.

Yes and no, it proves he's vunerable early to fast reasonable punchers and it proves he can be hurt, to extrapolate that point it would seem likely a bigger puncher who was equally fast should keep him down and he could be ko'd early
