Of course Mike Tyson is an ATG. Stupid question really, he's remains the youngest Heavyweight Champion in history right? That plus the absolute domination he showed should secure him a spot, no doubt.
Against Cooper and Wepner he did, don't remember if he went down against Shavers, he came close if he didn't.
But neither Lennox Lewis nor Jim Jeffries got up to win a fight. For those that claim that Tyson is not an All time Great fighter I'd like to see their top 15 lists for Heavyweights.
winning his first title at 20 The first and LAST HW to unify every legit belt in his era 10 title defenses Cleared out every legit hw in 80s bar one. Tyson is an ATG under ANY criteria you care to mention
lewis beat has beens tyson holyfield ruddock tucker and never weres grant tua briggs etc the list goes on and on im not saying he wasnt a great fighter but that is the truth my fellow brits get carried away with our boxers the same goes for calzaghe fans when they claim hed have beaten roy jones at his peak bull****!
he certainly belongs in the top 15. so yeah hes an atg. he didnt accomplish as much as he could have. he had the talent to be possibly the best ever but he allowed too many personal issues and bad decisions ruin his chances at that. but for a man who underachieved he still accomplished alot and for the short run he had 86'-90, those three or four years were quite impressive of any fighter ever.
he never beat mccall in a faster time mccall was walking around the ring with his hands down having a mental breakdown and lewis still couldnt hurt him yet when he was mentally ok he knocked lewis out with a single shot in 2 rounds mccall should never have been anywhere near a boxing ring the day of the rematch the fact he was says a lot about the regard don king has for his fighters
Damn Tyson haters are pathetic, Tyson is an ATG period, whether you like it or not, from 86 to 90 he cleaned out the division whipping everyone in sight and was the undisputed HW king.
There sure has been some astronomical ignorance demonstrated in this topic by certain members. I believe Tyson is a top 10 ATG Heavyweight (7th imo) and it would be ridiculous to leave him out of the top 15 ATG Heavyweights. Youngest heavyweight champion (20 years, 4 months), only one to separately unify all belts, ruthless domination from 1986-1990 against often undervalued quality competition (Tillis, Berbick, Thomas, Tucker, Biggs, Holmes, Tubbs, Spinks, Bruno, Williams), most 1st round KO's, only man to stop Holmes and Spinks, plus he showed phenomenal talent when correctly trained. Yes he ended up underachieving in his career and did crazy stuff, but that doesn't stop him from being an ATG.
I love Bruno, one of my faves, but its funny how americans on here down-play him as nothing special but then use him as one of Tysons best wins. Surely you cant have it both ways.
