    No-one has to remind me that I - like a lot of other people - hugely underestimated Fury. Here I am laughing about it above. I didn't give him much of a chance against Wlad considering he had been dropped hard by the likes of Pajkic and Cunningham. I also saw Haye as a considerably a bigger puncher than the two aforementioned and like the bookmakers also made him a favourite to beat Fury.

    So it whilst funny reading to see how wrong I was re. Fury Wlad it doesn't change that he vacated a title he said he wouldn't so he wouldn't have to fight a guy who beat him as an amateur and had a real hype behind him as a pro. Ranting like a loon in a channel 5 interview doesn't change that. Him making claims that he'd moved beyond that level of fight whilst going on to challenge Rogan was hardly convincing.

    This won't be enough to satisfy Captain Hindsight but ah well :eusa_whistle:

    Sorry meant the rematch.

    Chisora was roughly 4/6 for the 1st fight.

    Fury was 1/3 for the rematch on the day of the fight.

    :lol:

    Too bad there are guys here who know me very well from the BA days. Read and weep, my friend;

    David Price is the only one who turned down an offer. Openly admits that he and Frank played the TV situation for PR and fought Fury's leftovers for Fury's castoff strap on premium network cable instead of taking the test before an audience of millions on terrestrial TV. :deal:

    Incidentally, the Fury-Price myth puts me in mind of one propagated by HBO's Legendary Nights series;

    As in Aaron's case, Price was the only one who turned down an actual offer. :deal:

    If Fury didn't want to look reluctant to face Price and thought they were the ones who weren't actually keen on the fight then he could of just held on to his title and forced them to show their hand. He didn't do this. He vacated his title and went off to fight guys like Firtha, Pajkic, Rogan and Maddalone.

    He could of gone some way to convincing the doubters by either forcing Price and Maloney to drop their supposedly fake interest in fighting him for the title by letting it go to purse bids and watching them pull out or if they didn't he could of fought and beaten an at the time well regarded Price.

    Price could of lost and then later on blamed it on the other guy being a drugs cheat like so many of his other losses. :lol:

    This thread reminds me of when certain posters were claiming that Fury's team really wanted to fight Pulev when they made him an offer they knew there was zero chance of him taking so we could say that they tried to get a decent opponent in when challenged on why he was fighting Tom Schwarz.

    If the fight had gone to purse bids and Mick had lost, the (necessary, due to TV commitments) vacation of the title would've looked far worse. Frank knew what the situation was, which is why he refused the opportunity to build the Price brand in a big fight in front of an audience of millions on terrestrial TV, knowing his guy would get to fight an easier mark for a vacant title.

    Because Pulev and Povetkin are such big threats to Tyson, he needs to make BS offers to them a la Hearn's offers to Wilder. :sisi1

    The reaching and mental gymnastics required of a closet Fury detractor in 2020 hardly seems worth it.

    It's over, cousin. The scrambling and the cheap, cheap shots are going nowhere. Hold this; https://img.techpowerup.org/200422/l.jpg

    Imagine being a Fury cultist. What a boar ;)

    Fury turning out to be really good doesn't change his career choices. He did make a weak offer to Pulev that he knew wouldn't be accepted not because he thought Pulev could beat him but because it meant he could get a bargain basement patsy to knock over whilst claiming he made an effort to get someone a lot more credible in the ring with him.

    *shrug* I'm exceedingly secure in myself and my positions. I never have required endorsements (Fury's isn't the drum I would have chosen to bang, if I had), though I naturally appreciate and accept them with grace.

    Fury and Pulev share a US promoter. I'm sure that Arum offered Pulev whatever he thought Pulev was worth. Which of these two men is likelier to overprice himself in order meet the other? I know who my money's on.

    This is tame stuff.

    Never required endorsements having just posted a sycophantic post from another poster endorsing them. This is great stuff.

    If people can't see why highlighting making a nonsense offer to a fighter who the mandatory contender for a big drawing titlist for what it is then meh. It's not a huge deal but it shows a mindset that's sneakier than people would like to believe.

    Requiring them and citing them are two different things. As I previously alluded, 'Fury is a future world champ and will dethrone Wlad Klitschko' is hardly the drum to bang for years on end if you require support for your positions. That's a position you maintain in the minority, if not in abject isolation.

    That sycophantic post was courtesy of a Florida native whose very successful business has been the subject of numerous television documentaries, BTW. Adam doesn't exactly need to ride my D for the sake of forum kudos, either. :lol:

    This is the kind of thing which I don't get about you. How does him being a success stop that being a sycophantic post? You must realise it doesn't.

    ^ Because he has no need to kiss my butt on the internet. Adam calls it like he sees it, kind of guy he is. He's feuded with me over Fury and Wilder plenty.

    I certainly don't deny that I'm enjoying all the acclaim that is raining down on Tyson lately and the camaraderie among fans old and newer. It's rather novel. Why shouldn't we enjoy it? We took the flack and paid the dues. We were never the moral consensus. But we abided, and now we're walking in the light of wider acceptance. :dancer2:

    The abject bitterness is striking in some folks. I'm a glass-half-full kind of a guy, I don't relate to those who wallow in misery, defeat and recrimination.

    Strange behaviour but OK whatever.

    Having been proven right on Fury should be good enough that people don't need to gloss over the less then stellar parts of his rise to the top but here we are.

    I'm only saying now what I said back then, re. Price. This stuff isn't new. The moral consensus may have sung one tune at the time, but there were others who approached the situation more critically. I'm a critically-minded guy. My predispositions will never impede that.

    If I think Fury could have handled something better, I'll say so. But this all petty stuff we're talking about.

    Fury's family falling ill isn't good enough cause for nixing an Ustinov bout that was 'on' for all of 72 hours?

    Are we really placing some kind of importance on the supposedly arguable integrity of an offer made to Pulev by Bob Arum (whom promotes both men and whom is backing Pulev to defeat Joshua)? Do we really think that Pulev is less likely to price himself out of a bout with Fury than Tyson is? How much risk has Tyson to be wary of in facing Pulev? How much risk has Pulev to be wary of in facing Fury, especially while waiting in line for an IBF shot?

    Gee, now you've got me waxing nostalgic, Donald Trella's son is another who knows how far back my Fury prognostications go. He's one of those Ivy League debate guys, ergo his mind is trained against the acceptance of defeat, so he was most distressed by their prescience last time we exchanged iMessages on the subject of Tyson, in the hours after 2FAST a.k.a. Bono Vox a.k.a. Half an Ali and Half a Bowe obliterated Don Jr's boy in seven already legendary rounds. As if having to eat humble pie back in 2015, after scoffing at my prophecy that Fury would unseat Wladimir, wasn't enough. :sisi1
