Is Tyson Fury really an underachiever ?

All being fair - Fury loses the decision to McDermott and is understandably stopped on cuts against Wallin. Arguably he also drops the decision or draws against Ngannou. That said, he also gets the nod over Wilder first time around. Realistically, Fury could now be sitting on a 33-5 record. It’s possible he both underachieved with his undoubted skills but finally overachieved considering results going his way. I guess it’s what makes Fury what he is.

 

No, because he is both lucky to have been secured & placed into position in the first place and vastly overrated fullstop!

 

Should Tyson Fury be in the Classic, he is still active ??

 

Hard to say, but most fighters have had early scares against average opp, I think he could have cleaned out the field before Usyk came along but we'll never know. Glad he finally faces AJ, but too late to draw any firm conclusions.

 

He was not the most athletic or had classic boxing form and even in top shape never had a good looking physique. Yet had the natural gift of size and good luck of being born into an ethnic group with an extreme fighting culture. He is arguably one of the greatest of all-time. Hard to say then he's under achieved even if his personal struggles prevented him from fighting more.

but the Past is a great interest in this Business, we call Boxing, because at least in the past there were Hundreds of great & proven fighters, not so much the present, in the big scheme of things and TF is certainly not one of them.

Focusing on fights as a prospect and tune-ups is pointless: Fury has thoroughly proven that he’s a h2h great who rises to the occasion.

As for his career, he underachieved in terms of B tier wins. But if he’d actually stayed active and fought a bunch of guys in the top 15 or top 10, he might’ve burned out. A tiny amount of wear and tear or slowed reflexes could’ve been the difference between him getting knocked out by Wilder or not. If he’d lost the series to Wilder, his standing would still be lower even he’d beaten Povetkin, Parker, and a green Kabayel or Zhang 5-10 years ago.

Beating Joshua would’ve significantly raised his profile, but he may still get that win.

 

Considering your history as a poster, you should follow your own advice.
