I do not like Fury, first off. However, he dominated Chisora who is a decent fighter, and has only regressed. Is he turning into a Povetkin? While he doesn't have a title, he is cherrypicking opponents. I know not everyone wants to get their face broken by the Klitschko's, but the HW division isn't good. When will he fight a meaningful fight?
He is VERY young for a HW and keeps fighting solid opposition and progresses (his jab and his physical condition got much better). So know he isn't someone I worry about wasting his career he isn't going to be in his prime for another 5 years maybe longer and is young enough to wait till the Klitschkos retire I'm positive he's going to win a title if he keeps improving
Kevin Johnson was borderline top 10 and considered good enough to fight Vitali. Rogan was a so/so domestic fighter. Maddalone, ok gate keeper. For a guy thats fought 20 fights and is 24,his resume is actually pretty good!
He's only 24 he isnt ready for a klit but im pretty sure he could wipe the floor with most of the other heavys out there..
I realize he is young, but maybe it's just that he raped Chisora and hasn't stepped up since. Johnson is not a good fighter I'm sorry. Anytime he's fought someone with a pulse he's lost, outside of Sosnowski I guess. Maddalone is 100 years old and pretty much a gatekeeper with some skill. Way past his prome. Rogan is the best in my opinion, but once again, he's lost everytime he's stepped up recently. I guess what I am saying is; I am surprised he has not taken a shot at the title or fought someone better than Chisora which 1.5 years ago. Perhaps I should rephrase my question by asking why he hasn't stepped up.
No Tyson Fury DID NOT dominate Chisora. Fury was even rocked a few times especially in round 3! Dominate? No it was a competitive fight if anything. And Fury has gotten better since then. Kevin Johnson is an awkward defensive fighter with an iron chin. Good win. Maddalone is your solid journeyman,Rogan,Pajkic etc Fury is punching with better technique, has good hand speed, coming in better shape blahblahblah He has only improved and will continue to improve. He's a good fighter, will be champion,is good for the sport.
I think David Price is hurting the fan's opinion of Tyson Fury. If David Price wasn't around, people would think the career path of Fury was fine. But, Price is progressing at the same pace. Price is calling out Fury who has made it clear he isn't interested in fighting him. (for now at least) And Price looks more spectacular than Fury does at this point. So, the appearance is that Fury is ducking Price and just waiting around to cash in on a title shot.
Fury's still fighting Cunningham right? Is that not a step up? The man beat Adamek in his last fight.
Some people will never be happy with the lad for **** sake, beaten 3 unbeaten fighters,is still a kid at 24,shut out Johnson who whether you like it or not has only really lost to Vitali (Prize fighter is not suited to someone like Kingpin atall) ... he's coming along alot better than Price is IMO,Cunningham is a legit opponent for someone as young as Fury, for someone with as little experience as Fury.(His AM career was pitiful in comparison to the likes of Price)
The career path of Fury is fine though? What's wrong with it? Price is fighting Thompson next which is his only legit step up in competition to be fair .. Fury fighting McD so early on was a tougher fight,Chisora as tough,Johnson also as tough....jesus his win over Rogan is better than wins over Skelton and Harrison,Chisora win better than the likes of Dallas and Sexton as are wins over Maddalone,Firtha.People just don't like Fury because of his brazen nature.
Olympic Gold Medalist Povetkin has wins over Byrd, Chagaev, Chambers, Rahman, Huck, Donald, Boswell, etc British Hypejob Fury has wins over Chisora, Johnson...who else? Povetkin would destroy Fury.
He stepped up in his 8th fight against Big John, sure some think he lost but he came back and knocked him out in the rematch .. you could even say he stepped up in his second fight taking on the 20 and something Zeller....Johnson was a definate step up and USS even more so....if you combine records of the fighters the likes of Fury,Price,Wilder,Jennings etc are fighting,Fury comes out on top in terms of best competition and he'll continue to step it up.
