There was enough in the mid rounds to think he has a chance of stopping Usyk IMO.

Don't get me wrong, Usyk deserved the win and was unlucky to not win by knock out.

But at one point Fury was dominating and perhaps could've applied more pressure when he had Usyk caught.

I'm not by any means saying he wins a rematch, but there was enough for Fury in the fight that if he wants to continue fighting he should be able to motivate himself for a rematch (similar to how he came back in the 2nd fight vs Wilder).
He may be over the hill, and who knows how he's doing mentally, but that's my thoughts.

Now if he was to get stopped in a rematch or fight AJ and get stopped, I think it might be a different story.

Why do you think I wanna see it?

Jokes aside, I do think it'd be a good fight still. Fury gave a good account of himself tonight, and this fight would crown the clear second best of this generation. We're already unlikely to get Wilder-AJ, no need to add this one to the "what could have been" pile. The less Bowe-Lewis fights in a generation the better.

Agreed. It was a very competitive fight and Fury looked really good in spots, even great.

Fury hasn't shown that kind of speed and movement in a long time.

Unless he has a complete mental breakdown, he'll be back.

More pertinently... Can he handle the world seeing him as number 2?

And can he handle the world questioning IF he's number 2?

I agree with you - I don't think he beats Usyk in the rematch even if he takes it (and I don't think he does).

The bigger question for me is whether he's willing to try and prove that he's definitely/actually number 2?

You guys should stop even considering a fighter's career is over when they lose their 0. Win some, lose some

And for me, that's the big question...

Will he risk those eventualities and take those fights?

Or will he claim he won this one and retire without running it back or fighting AJ for who's the best of the rest?

    Time will tell!

Fury seemed to think he won. I though he got beat narrowly but convincingly.

Hopefully, he takes this loss as a motivator and keeps in shape.

If the rematch clause is exercised, both teams will study the tapes and attempt to make adjustments in the rematch.

Both guys are intelligent boxers and will learn and adjust.

To be fair - there's a difference between questioning whether a fighter should fight again and questioning whether you think they will fight again.

It also depends where in their careers they are when they lose that zero, and what fights they'd be willing to take from that point (if any).

There's no doubt there's good fights Fury could make - the Usyk rematch would be huge, a Joshua fight would be huge, even an Ngannou rematch would sell well...
The question is whether he wants to make those fights.

He had Usyk hurt in the 6th but didn't push the action. Lets not beat around the bush though is Fury really up there with the best of all time? His 2 signature wins were against a old Wlad and Wilder who everyone at this stage knows was never any good.

no. there are other fights that will serve to put his "greatness" in context. aj beats him. he can probably beat zhang, who wont push hard enough without going empty himself. we still have to see how this insecure dude deals with the reality that hes just one of the pack, and not the alpha. a mediocre pack at that.

No. Usyk should retire. He is very past him prime now.

I'd like to see Usyk retire just to stick it up Fury... but he won't too much money on offer.
