it might also sell alot more ppv numbers...i mean they have a ppv event every month does ufc really sell that much to have an event every month.?? #not a ufc fan..
Yes, the UFC does a lot more in terms of total PPV numbers than boxing, although their numbers have fallen off a fair bit in the last year. There are only a few major boxing PPVs per year in America nowadays, only the very biggest stars can sell.
I stopped buying UFC PPVs and a lot of people I know have too because the fights can be very boring nowa days
UFC did 6.79 million PPVs in 2011 9.215 PPVs in 2010 Boxing 2011 - Pac Moseley 1.2+ million Mayweather Ortiz 1.2+ million Pac Marquez 1.4+ million Cotto Margarito 2 600,000 there's not really anything after that.
There's only one way to measure total PPVs for a year, you add them up. Any way you try UFC comes out on top in domestic PPV sales.
PPV sales aren't the only way to measure popularity. UFC also have more PPVs a year than HBO do. The biggest boxing events sell more than MMA events and top boxers make a lot more money than MMA fighters.
The only reason the UFC did a million PPV buys was because of Brock Lesnar ..The numbers have dipped since he's been out and will continue to do so unless they get someone that can bring another audience like he did .
The biggest Boxing matches draw far more viewers than the biggest UFC event, but I would say more people watch UFC regularly. Put it this way, most of the time if I end up discussing combat sports with a stranger, it's more than likely UFC they're talking about.
The question wasn't what boxers make or what the biggest events do compared to each other. The fact that UFC can afford to put on a lot more PPVs than HBO and Showtime combined in a year and have 100s of thousands of people buy them should tell you all that you need to know about the relative popularity of the two sports. In terms of total PPV buys, tickets sold at events, ticket prices they can demand at the gate, TV ratings, the UFC comes out on top.
That's not true at all, they did 1 million plus buys long before Brock (Ortiz v Liddell) and they will do so now that he's gone (St. Pierre has done a million buys before). The last one did 700,000 buys, a very good number. It will be easier for the UFC to replace Brock than it will be for boxing to replace Pacquiao Mayweather. I know you guys want to cheerlead boxing and I like boxing a lot more than MMA/the UFC. But you're being unrealistic about what is going on, the UFC has supplanted Boxing in North America as the #1 combat sport, and by a good margin.
Overall the UFC is bigger particularly with the younger generation but the biggest statrs in boxing and boxing will always have big stars are bigger draws than the UFCs top stars.
Just look at the buy rates with Lesnar's named attahced to as opposed to the guys you just mentioned . Unless they can get a a guy with that main stream appeal I wonder how they will get back to over a million buys .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pay-per-view
so they sell over a million ppvs and the main event fighters only get have a mil each..so dana white is a bigger snake than bob father
