In Ontario, UFC is way bigger than boxing. It seems as though everyone, men, women, boys, and girls, know who the champs are around here and when the PPV's are. I get razzed for being a boxing fan all the time. Some have heard of the Klitschkos (some guys, no girls) and Mayweather and Pac, but that's about it. Cotto who? Alvarez? Who is that? Rampage Jackson? He was awesome a few years ago but since he switched to rye bread instead of white, his strength has dropped and because he has white laces now in his walk at home shoes, he has lost his hunger...that's the amount of detail even the women know about UFC fighters here in Southern Ontario at least.
At the present it certainly is because you see people wearing TAPOUT or UFC shirts and hats everywhere. I don't remember the last time I saw someone wearing a Money May tee.
That's because no big company manufactures his cheap ass shirts. Floyd, one of the top 2 most popular boxers right now, has no endorsement deals.
You have to remember that a solid Championship fight on HBO or Showtime in boxing would be a de facto PPV card main event in the UFC. The UFC equivalents of Ward VS Froch and Khan VS Peterson would have easily been on PPV. PPV don't tell the whole story.
