Bit of a change of topic but i think the problem with UFC is it is too much like real fighting. because just like real fighting its very scary for the fighters and can be mentaly scaring.

I have seen many dud UFC fights where the fighters seem timid.

In the real world fights happen unplanned, in the drunken moment or emotional explosion.

can you imagine what it would do to your nerves having a streatfight planned for every two months down the line.

Realism = lame dud fights and poor entertainment.

im not talking about the clinch, there is many offensive opprotunities there, i think you don't understand what im talking about. it is specifically the full mount.

and you talk about a guy who will take you down, pass then stand up, thats the game plan of the so called p4p king GSP.

I don't think you know what you your self are talking about. No offense.

I'm trying to make a connection for you where it would make sense that what you're proposing is impractical, and simply doesn't fit in MMA.

Unfortunately, the fact that you think that GSP's plan is to take someone down, pass, than stand up, speaks volumes of your knowledge about MMA, or lack there of.
Actually GSP would be a perfect example of why what you propose just doesn't make sense. GSP took him down, had him in full mount yet could not finish him. The point of the fight is to finish it, never let it go to the judges. GSP couldn't finish him while he had him mounted yet you assume that Hardy was "virtually defenseless" in that spot. Obviously he can't amount any offense, but that's the whole point of being able to get a dominant position AT THE SAME TIME being able to escape weaker positions. That's one of VERY IMPORTANT points of MMA.
If you're proposing to take a point off than that would account to the fact that if Hardy won the rest of the round except for that one time he got mounted, it makes the round a draw? That's ridiculous, I think Hardy would rather get beaten to death on the ground that to lose a point in such a lame fashion.

I think is not brutal at all. the stuff is just poor mans boxing and thai fighting with dirty wrestling. why no head butting, kicking when a fighter on the ground. it is joke now. all these rules now.

The worst thing that could happen to MMA is to introduce any more stop start. Boxing has way too much of it. Mandatory 8 counts should not exist, nor should standing 8 counts, nor should the 3 knockdown rule. By doing this boxing has lost it's purity as a combat sport and worst of all it's MORE damaging to the fighters. It's allowing the fighters to survive longer than they should.

Boxing thinks its becoming safer but it is not. One standard of small glove should be introduce, one size ring, no 8 counts etc If a guy is ready for the taking then he is finished. End of. Don't give them pillows so they can rattle each others brains for 12 rounds, don't put them in big rings so they can run to survive and if hurt don't let them recover.

Stop starting has to be kept out of MMA.

You are missing the point completely. Its not supposed to simulate a REAL street fight. It's supposed to simulate a fight where a fighter has every arsenal of their body to use, within reason, and referee interference ruins that.

As far as it being too scary, said fighter should find a different sport if he finds it scary. Simple as that.

As far as "the nerves" go most fighters thrive off that.

Seriously what is this ***** ****? A sign of the times... It must be. No fighter ever bitched about it.

That's what MMA is all about. Being put in almost impossible situations and overcoming them. If the referee were to step in every time someone gets mounted then you would see half of the game gone. It would wreck the grappling aspect of it.

Frankly it would ruin the sport for me if the mount was treated like that.

I agree with first point totaly.

Great speech but UFC 111 was boring

The exciting fights are mostly, either between fighters who are either "young dum and full of cum" or neanderthal veterans (no offence).

The fighter have very little longevity. its a revolving door.

something is wrong with UFC lets not stick our heads in the sand. lets suggest how to fix it.

obviously strikes and the other standard of scoring would exist as well. im am just saying that some other rule needs to be put in place on the ground to ensure the safety of the fighter. and as far as you commenting on my knowledge of mma, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha.

    I did say "mostly".

As tri-pod said the MMA fighters are tough and are not wimps. They will never ask for things to be easier.

Its the job of those that care about the fighters to look after them. I don't want them just put though the meat grinder and exploited.

I'm going to roll in a hand grenade here but i have an idea.

best of three fights for championship fights.

    benefits.

less pressure on fighters, they can relax and express there skill more. More viewer enjoyment.

less big hype fight, one fluke punch/slip endings after 30seconds.

:huh The Couture/Liddell trilogy was nearing the end of Coutures prime and in the middle of Liddells, at any rate they were definitely not neanderthal's yet. Silva vs. Franklin I& II, Silva vs. Forrest (Forrest is a decent fighter Silva is just that damn good), Chuck and Tito in their prime, Any fight with Rampage, any fight with Anderson Silva, GSP vs. Penn, Penn vs. Sherk, Penn vs. Stevenson, Penn vs. anybody at lightweight really, You had Hughes who was amazing back in the day when modern UFC was being established, Lyotto Machida, Shogun Rua, Gray Manyard is becoming a star and provides entertaining fights, Jon Jones, Sonnen who just put on a dominating fight against Marquardt, and showed how amazing ground fighting can be. Junior Dos Santos and Cain Valazques are two promising heavyweights in an already packed heavyweight division with the likes of Brock, Mir, and Carwin.

That is just in the UFC!

Seriously there is just so much **** I can think of that makes UFC more amazing than people give it credit for. Okay so the GSP fight was a little "boring" (if you want to be a cynic). You don't see to many boring fights from the guy. He was also very humble in his victory apologizing to the fans for making the show he did. (Which I find ridiculous as the man has nothing to apologize for.)

If you think that "most" of the good fights are from young dumb kids or between neanderthals perhaps you should watch more MMA.
