No. It's bad enough people already compare UFC to WWE and now you want a best of three? Besides a best of three would be more pressure on the fighters as they would have to prepare for three fights instead of one. The danger factor of how someone could lose is also part of what makes MMA so entertaining, and a reason why records don't count as much, hardly at all which i love BTW, and you get to see guys who have lost multiple fights come back and fight their way back up to a championship.
Mentioning those fights/fighters have made me remember how good UFC is. The good fights are better than anything else by a mile and there are plenty of them. I've seen ufc 1 to 20 and UFCv79 to the latest one. Love the sport.
Look over to pride too had Fedor, Big nog, silva, Cro-cop, hendo, jackson, Rua....all there kicking the **** outta each other...
Never heard anyone laugh so hard at the lack of their own insight. What rule that you're keep talking about? If you're talking about standard scoring than it already exists, and the fighter will get a mark on the score sheet for having a mount just like he would for clean strike. Taking a point off such as boxing KD is stupid for the reasons mentioned in my previous posts. What safety are you talking about? What have you seen done to someone who was mounted that is so unsafe? Tell me exactly what makes it so unsafe. Are you talking about people who haven't gotten a clue what to do once mounted? They shouldn't even be in the cage before they do. And if someone is unable to protect themselves against something that supposedly(as you say) renders them "virtually defenseless" than they should pay for it by losing the fight and not be spared by a ref. If I can set you up with my skills for a one KO punch that will win me a fight why should I not be able to set up a grappling position using my skills that will win me a fight?
do you not understand what it means that if there is another way to score points on the ground other than gnp and subs, it makes the contest safer. you lack an open mind/ readng comprehension.
Passing guard and mounting is a scoring move. Just like landing a good combo and rocking a guy scores in boxing. It does not mean that somebody should lose a point guys get mounted all the time and dont get finished.
its not about getting finished or punished from that position. but i feel there needs to be more concrete scoring which in turn would make the sport less brutal.
Elbows on the ground should be illegal. I think it hurts the UFC financially (and the fans- we get to see less of some fighters) when a guy cant fight regularly after a fight where they get a bunch of nasty cuts all over their face and head.
