Im pretty sure every sanctioning body has an interim position, I've heard of unified interim champion but have we ever had an undisputed one ?
Omg. Please don’t the boxing world get obsessed with this now. The obsession with undisputed champs has already killed boxing activity.
Its being discussed because this is really the first time theres been multiple interim champs at once. Usually there aren't multiple interim champs at a time much less 3 and they are usually promoted before this could happen. It makes more sense to just count the interims as additional "disputes" of the world title. The point of the interim is to get the main champ to fight them not to have them fight each other. You need an undisputed champ whose not fighting any of his interims for this to be a thing. During WW2 it was called the duration title but Bivins v Murray was a duration unifier at HW. That was different because they were filling in for the same champ(Louis) and he was in Europe and the whole thing was set up with the idea WW2 might take awhile. Interim belts are so much more common because the alphabet bodies abused the "final eliminator" in the 2000s and top ranked fighters stopped agreeing to them.
