That's true, but he also backed it up by beating killers, Fury didn't by fighting an era of bums If Ali was around now with the same athletic attributes and mindset, I would bet my life he would be the best. He just had something different
I can't believe I'm on a boxing forum having to defend Ali? F...k me, society has failed Have a good day guys
I'm not disputing it I was just pointing out how people are taken in by what gets said I don't know if I would have Ali as the best, but he certainly didn't duck a challenge
This content is protected Joe Louis and Cassius Clay Louis - “You heard of the bum of the month tour?” Ali - “So I’m a bum now?” Louis - “Well, you would have been on it.”
Dubois was not the top dog of the era, so he just beat the top 2 of the era which where already damaged goods. Buster Douglas destroyed the best HW of the era, was he an ATG HW. AJ stopped the best HW of the era did that make him an ATG HW? If Dubois beats Usyk will that suddenly make him an ATG HW? This why body of work is so important and you don't jump to huge conclusions over a few fights no matter who you beat.
Another great video Rummy I like how you take opinions on this forum tweak and incorporate them into your videos. ATG fighter imo yes. ATG Heavyweight according to my criteria no but only because of lack of depth. And by ATG I mean top 10.
Yes he is a ATG heavyweight, he beat the guys put before him, he himself had to grow physically to compete against these behemoths, whereas many other ATGs in heavyweight division from other eras, were fighting guys in same weight range ballpark as themselves for the most part.
You don't need to defend him when you're talking to me, he's number 1 in my book, but the fact that I have to defend Louis here is a little weird, I won't front.
He'll never be considered an ATG HW because he's not from the right background or in the right geographical region and even though he represents a fashionable political agenda, it's only a temporary agenda that has already basically ended. The fact he has a short time at HW is a factor but it would be overlooked if he was a better political tool to push in the media like 'Ali' or a commercial brand like 'Iron Mike'. Nevertheless I think it's pretty obvious by his performances against two athletic SHW's x4 and his cruiser days that he would have a very good chance of beating every 'ATG HW' before him.
IDK he's an ATG cruiser for me and ATG fighter in general but I just don't think of him as a heavyweight, I value longevity, and I have trouble placing him with dudes who've dominated the division for years and were tested by various styles. Even if you think Usyk WOULD have beaten all the challengers against him had he taken a different career path, the fact is he didn't. His HW ATG case for me rests a lot on what Dubois does from here, if Dubois goes to have an ATG/HOF type career himself, his case becomes very strong. Like realistically speaking, an MMA fighter "beat" Fury, Otto Wallin (I never seen the fight so I might be wrong) made it a very tough outing for him. AJ is an elite fighter of course but also lost fights he shouldn't have on paper. At HW anything can happen, maybe he managed to get some streaky wins but then say a dude like Zhang or Parker would pummel him. Maybe not, you just don't know.
