Honestly what would people be saying if Wilder did fight Dubois next? People would be going crazy saying that Wilder is back to fighting bums again. That would be the narrative. But it’s ok for Usyk to do so?
The problem is that your choices are a false dichotomy. He is arguably the PfP king, but arguments can be made for others, a whereas I think he would be a tough day for anyone, no one called him the head to head king. He's just a great fighter, that is all there is to it.
So people would be saying it’s so brave of Wilder to fight Usyks mandatory? Truly earning that title shot by fighting the best, grabbing that opportunity from the pits of Hell? I get that Dubois is Usyks mandatory, that’s a problem all in itself. Because Dubois holds that bull**** WBA belt that he got to fight for right after he lost to Joshua. By fighting what the ****s his name. And look **** while doing it.
Usyk is so good i actually think he has been less talked about overall especially by international standards & it's still unchanged even after the two AJ fights, he & Beterbiev should be mentioned more often even just how they approach their business & for having a no BS straight shooting demeanor.
usyk's story isn't over yet. he still has some fights to complete. he is a talented fighter. he actively pursues challenges. i'd love to see him fight fury, wilder and ruiz. if he can beat those three i'd see an argument about him being the best of this era. an all time great? i don't know. too soon to call. but i do know usyk is darn good. very darn good.
GOAT cruiserweight losing to GOAT heavyweight. No shame in it. Fact he's the GOAT cruiserweight is the only reason he presents a challenge in people's minds to Fury... Think Fury will be impressed by how much Usyk bites down to fight when he's manhandling him.
Of course he's overrated in a historical context, when Joshua was undefeated their were people who actually thought he'd beat Ali, Frazier and Foreman. It's an all too familiar hype train that rolls out of the station whenever a new face hits the scene. Wilder, Fury and now Usyk.
This is also a fair post. I'm high on Usyk but recognise that the flavour of the month syndrome is a real thing in boxing forums
