Past heavyweights were often the size of cruiserweights so his cruiserweight fights should give us a good idea of how he does against smaller past champions like Ali.

Can't vote as no option makes sense to me. I don't consider him overrated as I haven't seen any reasonable people thinking he's got an ATG legacy at HW (the people who think he would beat prime Tyson, Ali etc. are generally those who think contemporary fighters far exceed historic greats due to the sport's progress).

He wouldn't be able to beat the mercers or tommy morrisons of the world. Anyone here thinks he could be a legit champ in the 90s is smoking something, and by legit I mean beating a top fighter for the belt not just getting a lucky belt.

Yes . His hw fighting record is a completely non event until now - with regards to the number of fights as well in regards to the opponents ( except aj ) .

We can credit him for good ring iq and footwork as well for a good marketing manager but thats all for now. Fighting

Usyk would blast through Ali in a lobsided beat-down resembling a fight between a man and a man with a hammer in each hand, like a tornado ripping through a shanty town, a monsoon through a slum, a crocodile deathrolling a gazelle, a hippo mauling a tourist, an F22 in a dogfight with a biplane, a storm-shadow missile through wet paper, like Muhammed Ali fighting a quadruple amputee, a combine harvester through a cornfield, a steam roller over hot trifle, an interstellar impactor on all biological life 65 million years ago, a quasar through an ozone layer, a plague of locusts on a group of Neolithic farmers, a flood on the ancient city of Atlantis, or a novel strain of coronavirus on all international commerce.

It would be a hard-to-watch, pitty-inducing, soul-crushing, imagined-superiority-of-black-american-boxers-destroying, massacre. No less than a paradigm shifting event, sending all fantasies of American superiority to oblivion, that would result in the spontaneous creation of sweet salty boomer tears that could be mined and used on Northerner's fish and chippy tea from now until the end of time.

It would be worthwhile pour all of the worlds intellectual and financial resources into reviving Ali or retrieving him from the cold clutch of time and death so that boomer African-American-boxer supremacists might have to finally face up to this deep deep abyss of truth that stares them flat in the face.

Truly I pray every day for God's intervention to make this event a reality.

    ...

For real though Usyk would probably win.

    Yes and no

He is being ****ed by the biggest HW champion of all time (Valuev excepted) despite only being barely over 200lbs naturally.

He was a hell of a lot more impressive against Chisora than Parker and Whyte the first time around, Kabayel, Pulev, Price, Takam and Szpilka. Who were all rated HW's when he fought them. Which is even more impressive considering Chisora has the one style that's always given Usyk the most trouble, as I so eloquently laid out in the thread I wrote about it after it happened.

AJ getting no respect whatsoever nowadays. A year or two ago suggesting that Mercer or Morrison were far better than AJ would have gotten you laughed off the forum.

If Usyk was feeling in a particularly charitable mood then he ‘might’ allow Mercer and Morrison to work alternative shifts flossing the pork fat from between his front teeth.
