Is Usyk really great or only shows how horrible the current HW division is?

A natural cruiserweight sweeping all the HW belts only shows how awful the HW division is. The past HW title holders Tyson Fury, Wilder, Andy Ruiz and AJ are all really not that great compared to HWs of the 1990s-2012. This is what happens when promoters build up bad boxers like Wilder and Fury.

Well in the 90s a former cruiser also managed to sweep all the belts, so wouldn't your argument mean that division was awful also?

Usyk is great. Fury and Joshua deserve to be ranked in the top 30 or so HW greats, and he is 3-0 against them while significantly smaller. The rest of the division is pretty weak though. Parker, Kabayel and Zhang are decent, but nothing special, they'd be solid fringe contenders in most lower divisions if they were smaller. Hrgovic, Dubois, Ruiz, Whyte, Wallin, Sanchez and Miller are as uninspiring as they come, those guys would never see a 6 figure payday if they were Lightweights.

For me, Usyk is obviously an ATG, they should start naming immortals for the HOF, as some other sports do because he's too good for the HOF. I like him as a person as much as a fighter. He became undisputable cruiserweight champion due to his courage but more so through his sublime skill. He's winning these heavyweight fights mostly through his amazing heart, courage and willpower accompanied by his vast skill.
He was ****ed around so much by Fury in the wait and lead up for this fight that I personally think with a regulation training camp without the hijinks and delays that he would have dominated far easier against Fury.
It's beyond a joke how overrated Fury was/is and Joshua doesn't compare to past greats but nothing can be taken away from Usyk. These heavyweight fights take a great toll on Usyk though that's why he wants to get back to cruiserweight.

He’s beaten all of the other top cruiserweights and heavyweights put in front of him and managed to become undisputed in both divisions. If that doesn’t qualify him as a great fighter nothing will.

Why do people say this. I agree the era is weak but Usyk is LARGER than Holyfield same size and Ali. He is a small heavyweight, like all the small heavyweights throughout history. Current cruiserweight is just another label for it.

If Cruiserweight never existed I guarantee you would be seeing much more smaller heavyweights in the rankings

This era being weak is some rose tinted NONSENSE

Stick this era in any other era they'd handle themselves well. Any era pre 70's ain't got a shot. Make "Big" Goerge Foreman look like a midget.

Only problem we face today which is a problem through all division is getting them all in line fighting one another which King Turkey is doing. We needed king turkey 4 years ago really.

But they're chances at being the man for multiple years decrease significantly, especially in the 90s

They weren't the man for multiple years now, never mind other eras.

We had Wlad, then Fury and AJ who didn't really separate themselves, now we have Usyk.

Lewis and Tyson did. Late 90s/early 2000s = Lewis. Tyson was the man for a couple years. 90s was also more stacked imo.

Yeah nah prime Wlad is better and greater than Fury and Aj. He's been getting disrespected because he was old losing to them. Him dominating for 10 years made the era look weaker than it really was. Povetkin and Chisora really changed my perspective

The best HWs fought in the 1880s and 1890s.

Unlike in other sports, every generation of fighter gets worse than the ones before.

Honestly, we tend to romanticize the past.

Little George folds pork belly slice. That's George 1.0 or 2.0 version.

Especially this current END version of belly slice...

Buy me a pint and I'll elaborate more.

A boxer can only fight who they put in front of him. Usyk has beaten everyone from CW up to HW.
    This applies to every boxer.

Except, of course, Rocky Marciano, whose opponents were truck driver and plumbers, based upon the many threads in the
    Classic Forum.
