Is Usyk really great or only shows how horrible the current HW division is?

Wait, let us not forget he is not only Undisputed......BUT.... He must also be Lineal champ too. Funny its not mentioned much if at all. Yet One belt Fury and his team and suck up journalists would mention Lineal all the time before Furys loss. LMAO

I think the current division is kinda weak, but it's better than when Vitali let his little brother be the boss for all those years. So what does that mean? I think time gives perspective. Honestly I think Usyk holds up well in any era, but nobody else has convinced me of the same.

Well said, and I kind of agree….it’s as close to flawless resume as you can get…
But rightly or wrongly I place more value in my own personal opinion over resume.
I don’t think there will ever be a resume as good as usyks again and he deserves his place in the stratosphere of the atgs.
In top trumps career cards usyk is the Trump card.
But I don’t think he’s the best boxer in my lifetime and I don’t think he’s the most complete fighter of my lifetime.
Atg doesn’t mean the best to me, but I will lose every argument when his results are brought up.
Anyway we know Crawford is the one

    This.

Usyk is competetive and at least top 5 in any era, if not top 3 IMO

In terms of styles make fights, there are probably a couple that give him problems (or at least problems we have not seen him solve before (Iron Mike, Joe Frazier), but Usyk's style gives anyone in heavyweight history fits and something they have never seen before.

The way I see it when you look at the true ATG fighters, there are things that make them unique in a way that it's really hard to compare similar fighters and draw any real conclusions - and Usyk is very much in that mould, a generational talent that there is very little blueprint for.

If Usyk is a natural CW, what would you call Ruiz and Wilder? Very few are natural heavyweights. You need to eat and train proper, or just eat, to fight at that weight. Hell, even Tyson would probably be a CW if he ate proper!

And who are the great "natural heavyweights" of the 90s era? Holyfield? Tyson (look at him after he retired, hardly a natural HW right?)

And no. Usyk is just that good, which he clearly have manifested cleaning out two divisions.

So you're essentially saying every HW division ever has been awful from Sullivan to Usyk?

    Weak divisions. Weak mentality.

Boxers fight very rarely compare to past eras. they are too afraid to lose.

There is not even controversy. The controversy is with Dubois being dirty asf, and somehow yet still gets away with it, without being DQ.

Exactly. They also built up Wilder and Fury with a bunch of cab drivers and fought each other 3 times initially with 0 losses to make it seem like they were two greats. AJ defeated a post-prime Klitschko and loss to a fat out of shape bum Andy Ruiz and who he later fought again scared. These are the so called greats that Usyk took the belts from.

Its a bit of both. Hes a genuinely great fighter in a not all that great era. Tbh though I dont think the Wlad era was really any better overall outside of Kiltschkos.

at least Wald genuinely gave every contender a shot at him, Fury has never gave a genuine contender a opportunity and only has 3 title defences Wilder, Chisora, Whyte lol

    Both
He's great, but he is 100% being overrated by many on this forum

On this very thread he has been declared the goat over Ray Robinson, Ali, Duran etc

Yeah struggling with breidis, chisira, losing rounds to Bellew, and beating hype jobs like Aj and Fury is goat material lol

Really? Struggled with literally one very good fighter in his pro career (with Chisora I wouldn't really call it struggling even though it was a very bad stylistic/size disparity match up for him), still won, and you give that as an argument for him being overrated? Come on, I can't believe you're serious

Off the top of my head - Ali struggled with Henry Cooper, Foreman lost to Jimmy young, Louis to Schmelling, Lewis got smashed by Rahman and McCall... I won't even get into other arguments for his greatness, just on this one, you can't be serious, can you?

During the 1990s and 2010s, people were complaining that it was the weakest era ever and a complete joke.

Now we are in 2020's and the dust has settled, suddenly the 90's and 00's are getting the credit they deserve. They ranked above the most recent two decades for sure.

Lets see how the 2020's decade is ranked in the 2040's. I guarantee it wont be viewed as being trash.

During a current era which is in progress, there are a percentage of followers who will always be extremely negative about it.
