He might have vacated the belts but he IS rightfully and on merit ranked #1 at HW and he is the King of the division that's not's even debatable

The #2 ranked HW in the world is Dubois for goodness sake who Usyk KO'd x 2 and the #4 is Greedy Belly who Usyk is 2-0 vs and really should hold a KO win over him too

Usyk is adamant that this is his last dance and he clarified that last dance means one more fight

Pray tell what can happen between now and then to unseat him from his throne short of him losing that fight?

    Dubois is rematching Fabio

Kabayel is talking about facing Gassiev or Wlad and if not either of them it will be someone in the WBC top 15 and when you eliminate all the fighters ranked in there who are unavailable it makes the list of options even more unimpressive

    Moses is fighting Hrgovic

    Belly is fighting AJ

Regardless who wins those fights the winners have zero case to unseat Usyk from his throne

And if you want to cite Usyk being old and way past his prime, well, he's been old and past his prime for a long time and has slowed down a lot and that decline started ages ago

If Usyk isn't the #1 HW in the world then Dubois is

The belts are elsewhere so no he should not been seen as the Heavyweight Champion of the World ! Ultimately despite the achievements Usyk made in collecting all those belts at the end of the day he REFUSED to defend them and gave them up ! As hard as it is to say it especially in regards to Usyk, you drop all the belts and your removing yourself from Championship level by avoiding all the mandatory’s to those belts !

No one is arguing that Usyk is the WBC, WBA, IBF or WBO champion but he is categorically the #1 ranked HW in the world and the King of the division and if anyone wants to unseat him from his throne they have a long way to go which is going to be nigh on impossible to do in between now and his next fight

Unless you want to make a case for Dubois being the #1 HW in the world off the back of beating Fabio in the rematch

Fabio being #1 for avenging his loss to Dubois

Moses being #1 off the back of beating Hrgovic with what be his only win at the world level

    Hrgovic for beating Moses

    Kabayel for beating Gassiev, Wlad

Or Okolie, Rico, The Dosser assuming he doesn't fight Usyk, Ajagba because those are the only available HWs ranked in the WBC top 10

    Gassiev for beating Kabayel

Belly for beating AJ or vice versa

A new king cannot be crowned between now and Usyk's next fight. As desperately as many are to do so, as many fake ''Usyk fans'' as there are out there or how many of them come crawling out of the woodwork, you can't undo everything he has achieved and he's #1 until someone mounts a stronger claim for his throne and crown

I am one of the biggest Usyk fan-boys on here, and I am a little surprised by the narrative of Usyk as still the champ. He willingly gave it up. He's champion emeritus. And I hope he comes to enjoy the position and stays around for another five years fighting semi-performative fights.

He is still the lineal champion until he retires or loses.

The IBF eliminator winner, Kabayel, Dubois, Gassiev.... they're not champions - they're belt-holders that were gifted a belt. If someone were to get all the belts or beats Usyk, then they may have an argument.

It was NBA and it wasn't a belt or a world sanctioning body. Ring belt is even older than the concept of the lineal championship.

He gave up the alphabet belts, not the status of the champion. He still says he's the champion in his recent interviews.

I mean, he also says he definitely has only one left, and I see no evidence it is even being made. It it pleases people to call it a lineal defense--great. Love the man and hope he has it. But he is mentally checked out.

Usyk isn't the #1 HW in the world after relinquishing the belts that distinction clearly belongs to the guy who is next in line - Dubois :risas3:

So Usyk has 1 subpar performance at 39 y/o and as I have been telling you all for so long after an almost immaculate career of not putting a toe wrong and borderline saintly conduct in and out of the ring so many have been praying and waiting for so long for him to give them, including his fake fans, something to sink their teeth into to justify their hate and thirst to tear him down and they've been in a rabid frenzy ever since holding him to a standard they literally hold no other fighter in history to whilst declaring him inferior to his fellow greats

And guess what the new king of the division and #1 HW in the world Dubois was HL reel KO'd by Usyk just 2 fights ago, in his fight prior to beating Fabio

And #2 Kabayel was badly hurt, dropped and very nearly KO'd by a Euro level at best whose role is to be served up to Euro level prospects

That's them in the midst of their primes in shape not 39 y/o, a career high way too heavy weight when long past prime

I am hoping he embraces his emeritus status and has a series of semi-performative fights against lucrative British opponents. After Wilder, he should fight...

    Dillion Whyte
    Derrick Chisora rematch
    Tony Bellew rematch at heavy
David Haye (yeah, I said it!)

Why not? He has spent his whole career getting the short money against British fighters who aren't as good as he is. Why not hang around and make some money off them?
