Even though he doesn’t hold the WBC or lineal titles since Fury is retired he is the only heavyweight champ and no one can dispute his claim has heavyweight king.
No When Vitali retired, Wlad didn't become technically undisputed either. Even as the WBC strap was later contested by 2 guys that shouldn't have, it still didn't mean Wlad was shortly undisputed.
But the whole point of having all the belts is so your the only champion in your weight class. What I’m saying is right now we have one heavyweight champion. Usyk is The Heavyweight Champion not a heavyweight champion.
No he's not technically undisputed though he might as well be given that Fury is running a mile from him.
Yes, it was his 4th or 5th fight as undisputed champion I believe. So, even if he was undisputed, it took a nuber of fights before he (officially) became the lineal champion too.
I guess. To be disputed, you need someone to dispute your claim. Fury is retired, the WBC belt is vacant and no one else is claiming to be heavyweight champion of the world. So, by that logic, Usyk would be undisputed. As soon as someone picks up that WBC belt though, they will say they are the champion of a recognized origination, and reason to dispute will arise.
Tyson Fury still holds the WBC Belt. He relinquished The Ring Magazine belt The lineal title is broken should he actually retire and a new lineage has to be established, Wlad did this. Usyk beating AJ twice does not qualify him as the new lineal champion based on current precedents, although the standard is not defined clearly. Fury, Wilder & Joyce are men who can still throw spanners in the works should Usyk beat AJ again. regardless Usyk is going to retire in less than 2 years time. He's not messing with heavyweights for long.
Because Spinks won the Lineal title from Holmes,Tyson could not be named Lineal Title holder until he had fought and beat Spinks. Tyson beat Spinks and became Lineal holder on 27th June 1988. This was also Tyson’s last fight under Rooney .
Not until Fury is actually retired and drops the WBC. I feel like everyone needs a reminder that Fury is still the WBC champ and is not officially retired. He won't drop that belt either, this is all for the media to have his name in the news before the Usyk v AJ fight.
