Imagine being one of those people who simultaneously says Usyk is the GOAT, and Tyson Fury (his best win at heavyweight), or this entire era, sucks…. Don’t bring up Olympic accomplishments, that’s stupid. Not all Olympic boxers turn out to be good pros and they shouldn’t be factored into a fighters pro ranking. Im cool with differing opinions, but not non-sense like saying amateur accolades are justification for someone’s historical ranking as a pro, and logical inconsistencies like saying a fighter is literally THE GOAT but all of of their opponents suck…. As for my take: Usyk is awesome and maybe somewhere in the top 10… but he’s no GOAT and I don’t think he has a chance of being that for me either..
Duran Ali Leonard Hearns Arguello Robinson Greb Charles Mayweather Pacquiao Armstrong Pep Moorer Whitaker RJJ Holyfield Louis Hagler Chavez Etc. Usyk the GOAT ? No not even close he'd maybe be in the top 30 or just outside it.
I mean the only HW of any weight would be Fury. AJ is a total bum. Dubious got shafted with his bodyshot. Chisora...eh. I'd like see Usyk Holyfield. Think he'd box him up. Usyk is an ATG and so is Fury. No matter who they beat people would never like to put them along greats of the past.
I get where you're coming from but yes I think a 27 year old JP beats a 58 year old Fury. Correct post otherwise, Tyson losing to JP goes some way to dispelling the Iron Mike mythos. (not far enough looking at this thread.)
This is a very broad selection of champions - what is your criteria for GOATdom? I'm also very curious as to how you can so confidently place Holyfield in the top 15 but dismiss Usyk as nowhere near this level?
Just a side note looking at Usyks and his last 3 opponents Looking at the current boxrec top 20 HWs I believe - Usyk has beaten 6 fighters in their top 20. 4 of which are in the top 10 Dubois has beaten 3 fighters in their top 20. 2 of which are in the top 10 Fury has beaten 2 fighters in their top 20. 0 in their top 10 Joshua has beaten 2 fighters in their top 20. 1 in their top 10 I think he would have a good argument when you look at his resume Fury Joshua Joshua Dubois Gassiev Breidis Bellew Hunter Glowacki Huck WBA WBC WBO IBF CW champion WBA WBC WBO IBF HW champion Then consider that it is all within 23 fights
The GOAT? No. An all-time great? Not only yes, but heck yes. He's easily top 100 P4P and top 10 cruiserweight.
