Usyk is the #1 cruiserweight. But at heavy, you have to make some inventive arguments to get him into the top 10.
Atm, he's certainly this era's submission for GOAT consideration. But the field recently has not been strong enough for him to walk straight into GOAT status
I'm sorry bud, I like your posts but none of the guys have close to the achievements of Usyk They never fought killers like Huck, Bellew and Dubois. Not to mention the unbeatable 8 foot giants Aj and Fury Usyk is definitely way above the likes of Ray Robinson and Duran now
I’m a bit fan of Usyk but common this feels like a troll thread. GOAT conversations rarely ever have clarity during the persons career. He’s not even retired yet. Give it another couple decades and we can ask the question again.
Yes, it usually takes a minimum of ten years to put a fighter's career into its proper historical perspective.
That's what I was saying mate that Usyk isn't close to either of the names I listed. Whilst Usyk has a very good resume in this era it doesn't match up to the names I listed.
Usyk is obviously the GOAT for the reasons I laid out and even the haters and detractors inadvertently admit they believe it themselves when they act like he's so incredibly special he's immune to the ageing process and is in his prime six weeks away from his 38th birthday. If he was one of the inferior greats from previous eras they pleasure themselves to who age at the same rate as the rest of our species he would've been deemed shot or well past his prime ages ago
I never thought that Tyson would destroy Paul. I was worried that Tyson was going to get seriously hurt. Whenever one of these aging legends steps into the ring, I'm scared that they are going to end up like Greg Page (RIP).
I don't see any reason we can't consider a fighter's career as a whole. Folks rarely have 100 pro fights anymore because now they have 100 amateur fights. I have an all-time amateur ranking just as I have an all-time pro ranking. Without his sterling amateur credentials, would he have been fighting for a title in only his tenth pro bout?
It’s just about accomplishments as a pro to me. Some ATG amateurs are B level or worse pros, or just never turn pro. Other guys hardly have an amateur career and become ATG pros - if we take amateur careers into consideration - do these guys get rated higher due to their lack of amateur experience or lower because they have less accomplishments as an amateur? It’s silly - and again to me it’s a non-issue. Amateur boxing is scored differently, the rules are different, the rounds are different… Usyk has accomplished enough as a pro to be arguably and likely the GOAT in one division and a top 20 or better ATG in another… I think that’s plenty.. Reaching into amateurs to justify ranking him higher as a pro seems more like just trying to find a way to rate the guy you’re a fan of higher…
Exactly no one has ever done this with any other fighter this Amateur argument has only been brought up recently in regards to Usyk. No one brings up Mark Brelands amazing Amateur career when rating him as a professional he's rated strictly on what he done as a pro.
He would have a loss by KO on his record if he had not gotten A-side privilege in his fight against Dubois in Poland.
Rubbish. 1) While I fully concede that the punch might not have bene called low by other refs, it was comfortably a bladder shot, a was rightly called low. 2) We have no idea if Usyk could have got up earlier. The call went his way, and he took his time, as a real pro knows to do.
