I don't think so. Yet. But Darchinyan is, and Valero isn't far behind him IMO. So its certainly possible in the not to distant future.
Frankly, he's no where near. 2 weight world champion, but against guys like Mosquera & Pitalua, it's not that great an achievement.
A 38 year old fighter with a good record, and the #5 Feathweight in the world.... 25 fights. 25 KO's for Valero and a two weight world champ as well. What has Darchinyan done that is so much better than Valero? (That's my point)
nope. He should fight Marquez at 135 lbs next, but I think it's more likely Soto will move up from 130, with the winner fighting Marqez for The Ring belt. These kind of opponents could earn Valero respect, but I think it's more likely he loses to them, although with Soto it's a 50-50 fight.
Darchinyan beat Kirilov and Arce, and also beat Mijares, who was top 10 P4P at the time and himself had trounced Arce and had wins over Navarro & Munoz. Much better resume than Valero, he may have lost before but he's fought at a much higher level than Valero thus far.
Darchinyan has beaten a former top 6/7 P4P fighter and elite fighter in Cristian Mijares. Valero hasn't beaten anybody anywhere near that good, absolutely no where near the level Mijares was coming into that fight.
