I can't believe, not just Valuev, but anyone, I can't believe no one can KO Ruiz. Think about it, ever since Ruiz started his punch then hug tactic, he is incapable of being KO'd. And until he does get KO'd, Ruiz isn't going to stop. I think Ruiz makes everything worse than it really is. I think Ruiz saw how B-Hop uses this tactic to some extent, so he thought, "hey I will use it too."

I don't think Valuev is the worst P4P, only because he uses his jab. At least he does that. He prepares and thinks about fundamentals. The fighters that don't use their jabs to set up anything, those guys really bug me. Valuev needs to bring more meanness and toughness to his fights, that's what I think.

I think Fields is the worst P4P among the fighters people know about.

On the surface it seems you could say he's the worst P4P, after all he outweighs all of his opponents and often struggles. But when you think about it such assessment is not really fair. At his huge weight certain problems begin to arise which are not present at the lower weights. Simply put, he has some advantages, but is also at a disadvantage as far as speed and coordination (and maybe stamina) are concerned.

He really made enormous progress and is no longer just a circus freak. He can box some, which is no small feat for someone so huge.

Valuev WILL totally crush anyone who is AS BIG or BIGGER than him. Most people this size would have a heart attack after one round of boxing anyways. Because of this, I rate Valuev pretty highly.

:patsch Ruiz using this tactics since ages, Hopkins only since a few years. get yourself educated on that subject than you won´t make a fool out of yourself anymore. Additionally, most of the clinches were initiated by Valuev not Ruiz but, well, since it is Ruiz we can just ignore the facts and go directly into hate-mode.

Did we watch the same fight? All I saw was Ruiz trying to neutralise Valuev's jab, by coming in close and using the huggy bear technique and throwing occasional punches. Cant understand how anyone can think that Valuev was initiating the clinching.

You mean one who was on steroids?

As for RJJ, Roy was a one of a kind fighter.

Compare that to the Evander Holyfields, Andrew Golotas, Ruslan Chagaevs and Nikolai Valuevs who've all struggled against the guy.

    He's a spoiler...it's what he does.

Ruiz vs Valuev, and De La Hoya vs Pac are major differences. I know some would say WEIGHT IS WEIGHT, and if somebody outweighs you by 10 pds then there bigger (no matter what the weights are).
Lennox Lewis said it best when they talking about Wlad's chin...He said "You take a guy over 200 pds they can HIT HARD!" Lennox was saying even though he weighed 240, he was actually saying a guy over 200 could hurt him because he's STILL a big guy!
Now, you get down to the lighter divisions like Pac. I think everybody would agree pac is a small man. Out of the rest of the small men he has stength over most. Then you take De La Hoya who's around the average size of a man. Much like Pac when it comes to fighting people his size he has strength over them to. SO, P4P these guys are strong.
If De la hoya is knocking out people at say 154, he's skilled, experienced, fast, etc then it's a big difference fighting Pac who's around 120-130 naturally!!! "a good big guy will beat a good little guy any day." as the old saying goes.

Back to Valuev, and Ruiz. Valuev doesn't have the skill, the speed, the *PUNCHING* power in league with Pac or De La Hoya. These guys get there power from knowing how to fight. Valuev gets his power from weighing 300 pds...big difference.
This is why he doesn't dominate, and that's why I honestly belive there's LESS difference between Valuev vs Ruiz (even though it's nearly 100 pds) than De La Hoya vs Pac (20-30 pds difference).
At 300 pds Valuev is just to slow, and unskilled. I think everybody would agree that Wlad hits harder. Know why? Because weight isn't everything! If you took Wlad though, and added 20 pds to him, and kept his same speed/ strength/ etc then the 260 pd Wlad would MURDER the 240 pd version though. If Valuev knew how to use all 300 pds of his power he'd be unstoppable though.
Same goes for MMA where you see guys like BOB SAPP (360 pds of muscle!!!) get knocked out by guys that are maybe 250. Your body isn't made to be hit no matter what you look like.

Yeah and it was because of the steroids that Toney schooled Ruiz, knocking him down too, right? Go watch the fight, I think it's on youtube somewhere...

You wanted to know about fighters besides Tua that looked good against Ruiz. I just gave you that information: Roy Jones and James Toney. Nothing more nothing less...

But I agree Ruiz has that style that usually makes his opponents look bad for that matter.

Butterbean? Tye Fields? Joe Siciliano? There are plenty of guys out there who are worse P4P.

B.S. - this thread makes perfect sense. A much smaller man gave him a competitive fight. So if the fight is not a blowout, and he probably has the biggest size advantage of any champion, it is a valid point.

E.g. if you have a champion 154lb fighter, the equivalent would be 210lb. How many 210 lb fighters in the world would beat the 154lb champ? The worst of the 210 lb guys who still manage to beat him would be ****-poor P4P fighters.

He is current world heavyweight champ , and now a 2 time heavyweight champion of the world.. Respect him .. He defended it a few times in his last reign quite a number of times.. He beat a very good fighter for the second time in Ruiz, Ruiz is still a determined man to get by....

Hate his style or not , he knows how to use the tools he has , and may keep his belt a while longer.. As a 300 lb fighter , he is an extreme athlete.. He isn't a big stiff...
