unification takes priority over everything. chagaev next, then madatories or valuev. let valuev get a belt, then wlad can disfigure him ever more
At this time we need as much fans as we can get in the struggling Heavyweight division right now, the fact that the average guy at the bar when asked who the Heavyweight champ is, they usually say Rampage, then say you say, I mean boxing, they either say Lewis or that russian guy. I'm old enough to remember Tysons hay day, but I do remember what the bars were like when he fought Williams and McBride, they had to close the doors at hooters for the Williams fight, and the bar I went to, to see the Mcbride fight, it was packed with people. I remember seeing signs on the windows of the local bars I attended, it would say "We are playing the Tyson fight, 7 or dollar cover. I miss the days when the average guy knew who the champ was, and actually watched the great sport that is boxing.:verysad
all the more reason for wlad-chagev this summer. winner err wlad would be wba/ibf/wbo champ. about as close to undisputed as u can get. valuev-wlad without unfication provides only the circus aspect.
Yes, but I did think politics will allow for this. Don King owns Valuev, if he beats Chageav, then the fight probably wont happen. King will only allow Valuev to fight Wlad if he has nothing to lose and everything to gain, thats how Don opperates, we both know that.
Well, wouldn´t you want to see Wlad KO him then? I totally hate Ruiz, but I don´t think I´ve ever enjoyed a fight as much as when Toney humiliated him (I missed the Jones/Ruiz fight).
I quite agree with you.Valuev vs Klitschko would be bigger than Chagaev vs Klitschko.Valuev has improved a lot within the last couple of months due to his new Russian coach.I for my part was very impressed with Valuev's last performance. He totally dominated Lyakhovich. There were moments when I thought that Lyakhovich wouldnt make it to the final bell. Valuev is back.An impressive victory against Chagaev would catapult him into the number 2 position right behind Klitschko's back. Apart from Klitschko the Russian behemoth is probably the most financially attractive heavy weight fighter out there. Povetkin is probably better than Valuev, but the giant is hot in terms of markebility.
The interesting thing about this matchup (except for whether or not he could KO him) is how Klitschko would fight a guy he can't control from the outside with his jab.
Valuev vs Klitschko would bring something to the heavyweight division not seen for a while. Namely "entertainment". Please just might tune in for that one. I don't think it would go well for Valuev as he would probably take the beating of his life. His only hope would be that Vlad exhausts himself beating on him. Besides, Values actually looked OK in this last fight. He almost looked like a boxer. He has grown beyond a circus act into a somewhat limited but huge boxer. If he ever learned how to use his massive frame to lay-on and maul his oppenents he could actually be a force. That being said, he looked hugely improved against Sirgay and could be expected to land a few jabs against Vladdy. As heavy as his jabs are, they might even hurt Vlad.
Valuev dominated Liakhovich and that's notable, it was probably his best performance, but he's still not good enough to beat Klitschko and would be destroyed in that fight.
valuev is so slow u can time his punches with a sun dial. moreover, he lacks the power to make wlad uncomfortable. wlad would snap his jab, unload his combinations and move out. brutal one-sided beating. chagaev had a similar gameplan. counter the giants slow jab with his power left and move out of the pocket. valuev barely landed anything. sergei stood right in front of valuev offering nothing in return. that's the difference. movement completely neutralizes valuev.
But Don said he wants the winner of Iggy-Wlad for Valuev if he wins the WBA title. He says this is a whole new Valuev.
Don has gone back on his word plenty of times, but it's true that he did say that after Valuev's win - Chagaev next, then the Klitschko/Sultan winner.
All you guys still saying he's just a freak show should watch his last fight against Lyakhovich. Valuev was faster than ever and I mean really fast and was pumping a really stiff jab all night long. Now I'm no fan of his but that was an impressive performance, if he keeps that speed and activity in his future fights he can be a threat to anyone.
