Personally, I think Lightweight is a weak ass division and unifying all the titles is cool, but ultimately I think Lomachenko can be doing much more to cement his legacy.

140 is also pretty weak and the 2 dudes who matter there (Prograis and Taylor) won't be able to make 140 any longer.

    Is Lomachenko an ATG?

What can/should Lomachenko do to ensure an ATG standing?

Considering what he has done, and the amount of time in which he has done it, I think it is safe saying he's HOF. After a few more blockbuster wins over prime p4p-ranked guys, or maybe titles in another couple of divisions, he'll reach the point where anything else is just gravy. Meaning, yes, ATG.

I agree that he's already a HOFer based on resume and achievements. However, he's in a poor position at this stage of his career. Mikey's not coming back down to 135 and the Spence loss killed much of the significance a Lomachenko win would have had. A win over Gervonta Davis isn't gonna boost his resume that much.

Lomachenko has also expressed zero desire to move up and I don't see him winning a title at 147. I think not taking the Pacquiao was a bad miscalculation.

No but I think his career is far from ffinished. He's clearly fighting in and trying to unify inna division well above his natural and best weight classes. I think the challenges that presents and what it does for his resume and legacy are the main if not only factors that are compelling him to do that.

All in all, I just dont know if there will be a fighter or fighters that would be willing to fight him and are good enough to cement his resume and status/legacy as a ATG. I really hope he can find a couple of fighters that would do that, I mean its not his fault, its totally out of his hands and that's not fair, but not much in life is.

He's the most unique, unbelievably skilled, and athletically gifted/talented fighter in the modern era that I've seen. The term "layered" is always one of the first things that come to my mind when thinking of him, and that's in regard to his skills, ability, and overall philosophy as a fighter/athlete/artist, especially offensively.

At the end of the day, **** it, who ****ing cares or gives a ****. If you are a real and true objective fan of boxing, just watch and enjoy him when he fights, hes that good and that rewarding to watch. For true fans of the sport itself, he as a fighter is probably the most compelling reason to watch an artist at work everytime he sets foot in a ring.

He's an ATG on the basis of his skills.

He's not an ATG on the basis of his achievements, although he's on his way to becoming one.

"Vasiliy Anatoliyovych" is wrong. One word Russian, one word Ukrainian.

There are plenty of potential fights at lightweight to cement himself as a ATG. Davis, Farmer, Garcia, and Haney would look pretty good on his resume assuming that they all continue to have respectable careers.

Legacy and his place in history are his top priorities according to him. Discussing his ATG worthiness doesn't detract from appreciating him as an artist.

I can't think of another fighter, possiby besides Oleksander Usyk, Manny Pac, and Naya Inoue that are so good and so much better than the competition in the modern era that they are essentially handicapping themselves by fighting opponents in weight classes noticeably above their natural weight classes solely for more of a challenge. Those dudes are striving for greatness and deserve respect for that no matter how their careers all play out. In an age where pretty much all fighters try and fight in classes that are the lowest they can make to gain a competitive advantage in size -- nd every other possible edge and advantage they can get, these guys are doing the exact opposite and are still excelling and wiping down the opposition. That in itself should be a great enough testament to their skills, ability, and drive/desire for greatness. I cant think of a single thing or factor currently in boxing that is more respectable than that.

    No.

    Not yet, anyway.

    He's a HOFer without a doubt, though.

    Problem:

Floyd won't let Gervonta fight him until Lomachenko has been knocked out and/or looks really bad in consecutive fights. Even then it's not a guarantee.

Mikey fight will never happen. Mikey can't make 135 anymore and I believe that 140 would be difficult as well. And Lomachenko isn't moving up to 140.

So that leaves Haney who is a pretty big boy and will be up at 140 soon. Teofimo will be at 140 next year.
