From what I remember of the fight between Jirov and Toney was that it was a great back and forth fight with both giving everything they had, and while James came out on top and deserved the win, I also remember the announcers saying that Jirov was coming off an injury and that the wasn't in the shape he would normally have been had he not been injured.

But like I say it was a great, great fight and Toney just had a bit more at the end.

Not sick, injured. I haven't seen it since it occurred but I do recall the announcers mentioning it, perhaps it's on youtube.

Would have loved to have watched this fight live. :good

Abraham ranks among the most boring titlists of the last twenty years, in minute-by-minute terms. You could put together a nice highlight reel of the exact moments of his knockouts but they would comprise less than 1% of his time in the ring (the other 99% of which is god-awful)

The most exciting right now is Kovalev and Golovkin. I don't want to hear any gibberish about Kazakhstan is not in Europe either. It's like saying that Korobov isn't European because he was born in Asia. Golovkin is culturally Russian, there is nothing Central Asian about him. And the Kazakhstan school of boxing is just a branch of the Soviet school.

Jirov did make a splash in a dead division in this country and
he earned it. jirov went to work and rarely took a backward step.
He fought anyone and everyone without regard for purse or
his record. Real fighter, but not as exciting as GGG. Nobody in
boxing right now as is compelling or edge of your seat intriguing
as Gennady. I have Kovalev at #2 but GGG for me is #1 in boxing
    for entertainment value.

:patsch wtf are you going on about?
He's made it pretty clear that he's kazakh in his interviews and his nickname is "The Tiger" not the russian tiger lol.

Besides look at his facial features, pretty obvious he's some kind of eurasian mix, infact he looks more asian than GGG (who's half asian).

:roll:Um.....did you just start watching boxing? Jirov was fighting on
friday night fights before he even won a world title and then won it
in the US. Also, I'm pretty sure that Jirov couldn't have made middleweight
unless he lost a leg. Seriously ESB, bring back the quiz!
