I don't think I have seen a boxer come out of the Olympics with as much hype as Vasyl Lomachenko since Mark Breland.

Mark Breland was souposed to be the next Sugar Ray. While he had a sescffull career he never reached the heights he was expected to.

Is the same thing the fate for Vasyl Lomachenko? What happens if he becomes a champion but never really cracks the pound for pound rankings?
While he be (wrongly) be looked on as a failure the way Breland wrongly is?

100 views no response. As I type this one of the top threads is about why Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and Duran didn't have any tattoos.

I doubt he'll be as good as Mark Breland was as a pro, especially now that he's not even gonna try until 2016 at the earliest at which time he'll be too old to lose the bad habits the ams encourage. Mark Breland was a 2 time champ and a good fighter.

He'll be another kid diamond at best.

Depends on how he's VL is guided throughout his pro career, but the fact that he doesn't the reputation of being a knock-out artist will probably work in his favor as he progresses through the pro ranks. Breland was expected to knock everyone out in the pros, in much the same way that he blasted out the vast majority of foes that he faced in the unpaid ranks. When that didn't happen, he became the target of unfair criticism. Lomachenko might not have to deal with those types of crushing expectations as a pro.
