Should be in the HOF. Vic is a mystery, he does so many things wrong and thats what did him in against a superb counter puncher in Donaire, yet he's capable of completely destroying other fighters by bullying them around. He has his flaws, and I'd pick both Agbeko and Donaire to beat him in rematches, as a matter of fact I'd pick Donaire to knock him the hell out again. Hall of fame for sure, the guy is an overachiever.
I have to disagree with you here... Vic is a better all around fighter than Gatti was. His awkward style makes him real tough for most guys. Gatti tended to have tough fights with mediocre guys, and even lost to some solid but hardly eltie fighters.... Where as Vic has destroyed alot of the top guys in his division, and only loses to the best, and even then they are always tight fights... He was only dominated by NOnito. And you know what i dont even like that little ***** Darchinyan, but i do respect his skills, and give him props for consistently taking on the toughest guys around his weight, even moving up to get those fights...... And im a Gatti fan.
That's right Farmy. People can say he got no skillz, but he is by no means an easy opponent to fight. Vic is actually difficult opponent for anyone. And the only one or two to drop him was Gorres and Donaire. Although, Gorres lacks real pop to stop darchinyan.
I think that will really depend on who else is being considered that year. That being said, it isn't like Vic's career is over yet. At 35 he showed that he is still a relevant force in the division. If he gets the rematch against Mares and beats him, then it will only add credibility. If he got a rematch against Agbeko and beat him, then it would make everyone stand right up and take notice. Of course, I don't think he can do it. But I wouldn't write him off as having no chance. Being beaten by Donaire shouldn't count too harshly against him. Donaire is clearly a special talent. The only way I could see Vic having a look in at the top 100 ATG is if he rematched and beat all three of them. Even if he had the time to do it (he doesn't) and even if the promotional crap could be worked out (don't think so) then there is still the undeniable fact that Donaire is better than him - he could only fluke a win with a lucky shot, and there is no way that is plausible.
I think that is part of the Australian culture. Isn't it something like 25% of Australian's weren't born there? So being Australian is less about where you were born, and more about how you identify yourself.
