Is Vic Darchinyan top ten pound for pound

I think that the ring rankings would have more to do with him being 3-1-1 in his five previous fights than anything else. Donaire really dominated him and he has that draw with Gorres.

Before the Mijares fight, where was Darchinyan ranked? I'm sure he moved up more spots than Caballero did when he beat Molitor. Caballero was already recognized as a pretty good fighter and has been a champion for a some time now. What kind of politics do you think would have Caballero getting more favouritism than Darchinyan?

Also, if you think about it, Mijares apart from dominating Arce has not been that impressive, even drawing with Maldonaldo in 2006 while Donaire, Montiel, and Darchinyan all knocked Maldonaldo out. So a its quite easy to mount a case for Mijares having been overrated. Not just based on the Darchinyan fight but on his record in general.

The guy easily beat Arce & Munoz, plus guys like Navarro, and with his skillset and technical ability he wasn't over-rated.

His record isn't bad either. Considering he had no amateur experience I think he's done remarkably well.

 

The problem that he couldn't reach top 10 is because of the Donaire lost. Plain and simple.

Until someone KTFO Donaire or he himself win against Donaire he can easily enter without an arguement.

What's surprising to me is that people are so quick to put Shane Mosley so high in their P4P lists and then argue against Vic being there at all.

He has to be in the top 10. He beat Mijares who was in the top 10 P4P. He deserves to be in it even @ # 10.

He beat Kirilov-Mijares-Arce. 3 champions back to back to back. Well arce is a former champ but still. He deserves to be in it. I hope he fight Nonito Donaire next

No. They put Margarito in the Top 10 after he beat Cotto, despite the fact he was coming off a loss to non Top 10 Williams, after Cintron, whom he had beaten before.

Politics.

Cotto was very popular and rated very highly. Mijares only made Top 10 after plenty of lobbying from the fans, not on the back of a certain performance. As soon as he made Top 10, Darchinyan demolished him. So The Ring must have assumed they were both overrated.
