In my opinion, no. He isn't good enough to be.

His best win, by far, is eeking by Berto. His second best would be Nate Campbell. Against better fighters he gets stopped.

He should never fight again IMO, but his "celebrity" status helps to sell tickets.

Yes, he's a gatekeeper at best basically and has always been. Pretty much like Clottey I'd say.

It's funny considering Petersons lack of fans or marketability that he has been the beneficiary of so much dodginess

Barely a gatekeeper at this point.

Karass & Collazo dealing with the Berto & Ortiz's of this division.

ROBBED???? Did you only watch the 3rd round or something. That was far from a robbery man. Don't forget that Ortiz was the hyped guy at the time too.

    He's barely an active fighter

I thought Collazo after such a break was too risky

I scored it 6-4 Ortiz. 5-5 would have been fine too.
The boy got robbed in my mind.

His last fight was on FS1 and he got knocked out in the 1st or second. So no, he is past being a gatekeeper.

ok, that is a legit scorecard to me. I personally felt that, aside from round 3 and 10, Ortiz did very little and Lamont landed cleaner shots. Ortiz actually appeared to run for a lot of the fight. Lamont was the ring general most of the night. A draw was a fair result to me.
