Do you not see how Dubblechin has used ridiculous criteria? Title holders face? Well, only two belts in Contehs day. And besides, why are 'title holders' all that important? The best actual champion Hill beat was Maske, who funnily enough I praised earlier on in the day! And of course Dubblechin didn't care to mention that Conteh fought in one of the best ever eras for light heavyweight and Hill didn't. Although according to Dubblechin, Oba Carr would've been unified champion at welterweight in any other era than his own. He is a joke of a poster, and I find it very odd that you don't see that.
By Dubblechin's criteria Nathan Cleverly would be a more prestigious scalp for a light heavyweight than Yaqui Lopez. How anyone can find this a reasonable criteria I don't know.
Magoo, Below is the IBRO poll ( I voted on it ) in 2005. 30+ members voted for the top 20 all time greats at light heavyweight. Hill did not make the cut. He came in 28th overall. As soon as Kovalev KO's Hopkins, I'd put him above Hill. Updated March 2005 Archie Moore Ezzard Charles Sam Langford Gene Tunney Bob Foster Tommy Loughran Michael Spinks Bob Fitzsimmons Billy Conn Roy Jones, Jr. Maxie Rosenbloom John Henry Lewis Harry Greb Tommy Gibbons Philadelphia Jack OBrien Jack Dillon Harold Johnson Jimmy Bivins Georges Carpentier Battling Levinsky Just missing the cut: Jack Delaney, Kid McCoy, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Dwight Qawi, Joey Maxim, Joe Choynski, Kid Norfolk, Virgil Hill, Tommy Burns, and Tiger Jack Fox.
Who is Hill's best win at light heavy? Its not as good as Hopkins. That is a good case for openers. Hill fought in extremely weak era of light heavyweight. Hill was badly beaten in his two toughest tests ( Jones and DM ), and just squeaked by via split decision in two of his best wins. If memory serves Jones Ko'd Hill early with a body shot.
The ridiculous criteria used by the International Boxing Hall of Fame? Also, if you disagree with me, fine. But don't make up crap about me and claim I said it.
I think its a tad early to make that decision. Hill was a career champion while Kovalev has barely gotten his feet wet. And while having Bernard Hopkins looks good on a win list, the man is two months shy of his 50th birthday and hasn't done much significant in a while. Hill's record lacks big wins and contains some dull performances. But he has the most title fight wins of anyone in that class's history. He beat some decent fighters in Bobby Czyz, Henry Maske, Lesley Stewart, and Fabrice Tiozzo. Not the greatest resume at lightheavy but not something to scoff over either.
The cyber bully is upset? You go from thread to thread making personal insults toward me. I've tried to ignore you. The moderators have deleted posts you've made personally attacking me. Now I know who I'm dealing with. You'd be wise to stop stalking me.
Why are you threatening me and why are you taking this beyond opinions based on a boxing forum? You think I'm a cyber bully? I do take the p i s s but only in terms of opinions expressed on here. I have never intruded into someone's personal life. Delving into someone's personal life is bang out of order. Fact is, you got wound up so you've taken it to the next level. That is ridiculous, and shows me what I'm dealing with more than anything else. Someone who takes things far too seriously and will resort to PERSONAL ATTACKS. What you've just done is actual cyber bullying. Only because I have a lot to lose in my personal life and fear you have 4chan contacts, I will agree to cease my attacks on you. I hope this is something you deem an acceptable point of action and will not post anything else FROM OUTSIDE THE FORUM, which is not nice. I also hope you see the difference between my line of attack and what you have done.

Maske was decent. He he split the series with Hill then retired. Dawson has better wins...Hopkins, Tarver, Johnson, and Adamek. I'd say he's close to Hill. A case can be made. Put Dawson in Hills era and he just just fine. Do you agree Hill fought in a weak era? Do you agree his biggest wins were close matches? And do you agree when matched vs the best, Hill lost by a large margin?
That's not right. Maske retired, came back years later and 'avenged the loss'. Read through my posts: yes I think Hill fought in a poor era. Still, Hopkins and Campillo does not trump what Hill achieved.
Ah, correct on Maske. But if a fighter fought in a poor era, struggled a bit in his best wins, and got blow away vs the two best fighter he fought, how is he a top 20 ATG? Kovalev's rating will either sky or drop like a rock post Hopkins.
