Not sure i really want to discuss something like this with someone coming at things from such an already heavy handed viewpoint on the matter. i can see no good coming from it. But let's just say someone has researched both era's at light-heavy and actually feels the mid-late 70s was a better one than mid-late 30s(probably something that would be met with mockery by yourself) then it shouldn't be too surprising if they favour say, Galindez title run over Lewis as champ, but maybe that would be overcome or balanced out because of Lewis' clear edge in number of fights, non-title fights with Rosenbloom and Tiger Jack Fox etc.. I'd imagine that comparing Lewis to Galindez or Saad could generate some interesting debate, unless someone is of the opinion one of the respective time periods was of no worth at all to the division, which clearly seems to be the case with you, considering that some ring list having him a FEW spots above Lewis merits such a response. it seems akin to someone flying off the handle due to seeing a list where Olivares or Zarate are rated a few spots above Manuel Ortiz or Panama Al Brown to me.Would you do that by any chance? personally i don't have that strong an opinion on this, but i'm not that enamoured of much of the 30s regarding light heavy.I've always thought it was stronger prior and after much of that decade.
Saad is without a doubt greater than Lewis IMO. It's not like Saad made a couple of defences against half-arsed competition. I have Lewis over Qawi though, that goes without aaying!
Also, Surf knows that I have a hard on for both eras so it's not era bias or anything. I don't rate Galindez over Lewis either.
Sheesh! Am I that feared/dreaded over here?? I always thought that I was one of the more genial posters. For the most part I never insult or mistreat others to the best of my knowledge. Guess trying to drive the trolls out of here recently has made me appear more coarse than I really am. Ah well. I'll reply later.
I didn't get that Surf, I think he was just saying that if you hold firm that Lewis' era was so much better, than no argument is going to convince you that Saad (or Galindez, which I don't agree with) could be a higher ranked LHW champion.
