Is Vitali K. one of the best defensive heavyweights of all time?

No he is not great at anything really. His only real claim to fame is that he is a 2 time world HW champ. Nothing special about him. He doesn't hit very hard,he isn't very fast,isn't technically sound etc He's a good fighter who did very well for himself but not an ATG in any area. His defense consists of leaning back and even sometimes running away.
He has great reflexes.

Vitali Klitschko is an Iron Chinned Warrior and a super slick defensive fighter. he moves his head like a snake and is rarely hit with any punches. When he is it doesn't matter though because his Chin is one of the best in the World today.

Head to head he is an ATG Heavyweight he would not be an easy out for anyone because of his Height, Iron Chin, Stamina, and Awkward lean back style.

That's why there are thousands of HW's who train and dedicate their whole lives to boxing who don't have defense even remotely as good as Vitali's. But you're right, anyone can do it. Maybe you should offer to put on a boxing clinic for all those HW's?

 

He has good reflexes but you can't tell me his height isn't a huge factor. If he was 6'2" He'd get caught a lot because he always pulls back in a str8 line

 

Nobody has even rocked that chin. If he hadn't popped his shoulder in the Byrd fight that led to four years out the picture we'd be looking at a record better than Marciano's. IMO he was never quite the same after the shoulder injury, although he came back strong in 08.
