I'm done rewatching some of his older fights and something struck me...He often seems to be ...how could i say this...toying or maybe inflicting pain in a certain way...I don't know if it's just his style that gives this feeling but it's as if he's trying his best to torture his opponent before the finish...He does max damage but doses his shots enough to avoid a quick finish , then when he gets tired of it all , he starts to hit harder and harder & accentuates the rythm.. and don't get me wrong i'm not saying that he does that in every of his fights or anything... But in certain cases...for instance in his fight vs Peter...or better example , vs Sanders..
I would agree with you. Its a big reason I am fan of his. The man ENJOYS hurting people. And not just in the boxing "I want to beat this guy sense". He genuinely seems to enjoy seeing his opponents in pain. Just like in the Peter fight. He knew he could have ended the fight. But he didnt. He was enjoying just beating Peter and hurting him and breaking him mentally. Its great, I wish more fighters were like that.
He does have a little bit of Roberto Duran in him with the way he seems to enjoy knocking people around.
yep, he is - great word too. i would have said evil, but that's toooo evil. love his fights, love the power the guys holds in his head and hands.
No, he isn't. He can't throw too many hooks because of back problems, and his big frame requires a specific style to fight. He often breaks his hands which is why he couldn't get Danny Williams or Peter out there early. He likes winning-- and hurting opponents is part of winning. I don't think he's blood thirsty because those kinds of champions don't last long or make it in the first place.
1) Left hooks are all he does 2) You're stating he is even better than he seemingly is and were it not for broken hands blood) he would have Ko'd Danny/Samuel even sooner.:think
Vitali's got that nasty streak in him, that's what makes him so good. It's the difference between a good fighter, and a very good fighter. You could see it in his eyes at the Peter press conference, he knew what was coming. He was playful, mischievous, he has so many different sides to him, he shifts from one mood to the next.
Look at the shock, anger and disappointment on Vitali's face when he realized he can't knock Peter out of the arena. "WHAAAAAAAAT?" This content is protected This content is protected Sadistic? Oh very much. But such a cold killer in the meantime.
No he just can't hit hard enough to get the KO so his arm punches have an accumulative damaging effect
