That because he doesn't have enough pop in the fists to finish opponent with single shot. At the same time he stays away from punches so he doesn't tire and bring constant beating which is accumulating in time. This all looks like he is torturing his opponents
... but all that is because he has weak hands ....

Well OK, he obviously isn't overrated by you personally. You seem to understand the deal.

But a lot of his fans look at nothing but his KO%, ignoring the level of chumps that he KO'd to get that %, and assume he's an awesome power puncher. :roll:

 

Having watched quite a few of his fights, I get the sense that he's never thrown a punch more than about 60-65 % of his max power.

It seems to me that he always wants to stay on balance and is reticent about committing to his shots.

And while many of his opponents were tomato cans, some were a cut above that.

Kirk Johnson had never been stopped (one DQ loss).

Larry Donald had never been stopped (even by Bowe).

 

Johnson was 260lbs. (his prime was mid-220's)
Donald fought Vitali eight years and 26 opponents after he fought Bowe. He wasn't the same fighter. Bowe is overrated anyway.


Other than that, I agree with you about Vitali's style.
