Being the first, youngest, oldest, biggest, smallest, etc. means alot in terms of All Time Great rankings to most people. What the **** are you smokin'?

 

This jackass right here:hi:. Who has Vitali beaten for you to make such a statement? His biggest fight was a loss (admittedly, in somewhat dodgy circimstances) against Lewis. Vitali has been given a vacant title in the past and also got a free shot at Peters' title. Before that he beat Herbie Hide (that's right, Herbie ****ing Hide!) to pick up another strap. All of the defences inbetween have been against terrible opposition.

 

People use all sorts of intangibles to rank ATGs. It's not like a head 2 head contest where age cannot be considered, just ability.

Anyway, back on topic. I would have Vitali just inside my top 20 best Heavies ever.

Vitali is a definate HOFer. However, he will neve be considered one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. I think he has the skillset to compete with just about any HW that ever entered the ring. However, the combination of fighting in a weak era combined with the fact that his brother is the other dominant HW of his era will stop him from ever being conisered one of the best HWs ever. Guys like Tyson and Holmes fought in weak eras, but were the dominant HWs of their time. Guys like Lewis, Ali, Marciano, and Louis beat great fighters. Vitali has not beat any great fighters and it's arguable about who the better HW is between he and his brother(I give the nod to Vitali).

 

1. Vitali wasn't given anything. He won the WBC by TKOing Sanders, his free shot at Peter was because he retired without losing his belt in the ring.

Top 15-20 or so all time.

 

Those would be unrelated attributes, nice try moron.

Obviously it's a great feat when a lower weightclass fighter such as Roy Jones Jr. or James Toney can step up & win at Heavy, or when an old man Forman can KO his way into the history books by being the oldest HW champ, etc.
