    Not yet. But he still do it. Every era of boxing had its share of bums.His is not that different from some others. Shame he never fought aprime Evander or Tyson,tho.

    I think his point was that Ali is still famous WORLDWIDE, not just in a particular region.

    I would put him around 13,cause although hes much bigger than many of the old time greats and would probably beat them. You still have to put them over Vitali. I just cant see putting vitali over Louis,marciano,dempsey,johnson,Tunney even though hed beat them. (not sure if he could beat a prime Louis) but even if he could his resume is not even close,but I dont think Vitali could beat Ali,Holmes,Foreman,Holyfield,Tyson,Lewis and Bowe Liston and maybe Fraizer(but maybe to much size differance there) would be almost pickem.

    Interestingly, other HW champs rate Vitali very highly. Just ask Tyson or Frazier. He is hard to beat for anyone. I don't think anyone in HW history would have an easy night against him, which doesn't mean he beats everybody. I can only think of Ali, Lewis, Holmes, Tyson and Foreman as being in that same category, that they would never be easy to beat if they show up at their best.

    Generally, I don't hink it makes sense to proclaim anyone the greatest ever in a sport like boxing. So much of greatness is created by star power, which is a media reation largely. Sometimes two fighters elevate each other, like Holyfield - Bowe or Ali - Frazier, which says little about these fighters in a historical context.

    While Ali is certainly more famous, his fame is as much or more among non-boxing fans as enthusiasts of the sport.

    And so, I believe, Curmudgeon's point might be that fame is scarcely a deciding factor.

    BTW, IMO, Ali is the greatest boxer of all time at any weight, and #1 on my Alltime HW list, both by accomplishment and head to head.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

    Answer is a big HELL NO!! He got a very poor resume, he will only be remembered for giving Lewis all he could handle and even pushing Lennox into retirement but still LOST. Since this....nothing at all on Vitali resume.

    Vitali has never beaten a great fighter to be the Greatest fighter.
