George Foreman made a good observation about this. He said that Vitali being European and more in tune with Euro fight crowds, quit because he didn't see it as a bad thing if he was injured.
However, in front of an American audience, who expect a fighter to fight through injury, it was considered a very bad thing.

I can see where he's coming from on the issue. As a boxing fan more attuned to the American way of thinking, I thought that it was pretty disgusting.

Vitali also claimed to have torn his rotator cuff yet he was fighting again in that same year, just a few months later. If he'd torn his rotator cuff he would have been out for much longer that, just BS excuse making for what was a quit job because he got frustrated.

It is funny to see haters trying to sidestep the simple fact with all the side arguments:

Vitali Klitschko the only boxing champion who has never lost more than 2 rounds - inredible achievement not likely to be repeated any time sonn.

Frustrated? He was dominating the fight you moron.

He won every round but 1 you nincompoop.

The man could have had a permanent injury had he continued. Byrd had nothing for him that fight. The only thing that stopped Vitali was the freak shoulder injury.

It's also funny that Klittards are obsessed with size yet overlook the fact that Vitali quit against a feather fisted former middleweight who he was 7 inches taller and 40lbs heavier than.

Plus watch the Byrd fight and ignore the dodgy German scorecards, Byrd won more than 2 rounds for sure, by the 5th he was evading Vitali with ease, making him miss and then actually started backing Vitali up with his own counters. Vitali got so frustrated that he quit.

Vitali had surgery after the fight to repair his shoulder. Going under the knife eliminates this as a BS excuse. Yes he fought seven months later, and went the distance for the first time in his career because he was holding back so as not to push his surgically repaired shoulder to hard and re-injure it.

I can tell with fair certainty you're neither a boxer nor physician.

I know Vitali is heavy steroid abuser but even for him that recovery time for such an injury is quite astonishing:D

    HBO had Vitali winning rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 while they had Byrd winning rounds 5, 7 and 9.

Harold Lederman, HBO's unofficial judge, had Klitschko ahead 88-83 at the time of the stoppage. That's 7-2 and it is quite generous. :hi:

He ran Vitali across the ring with a jab:lol:

Byrd gave up the rounds because he wasn't throwing back , not because he was being outboxed.
When he began to up the ante , Vitali tapped out.

    NO rematch wanted.
