I think it is. I been looking at patterns and stats and math and stuff. Shannon Briggs. 10 Years past Prime and old as an old oak tree. Slow as turtle and Vitali ended up winning a UD. I could give a flying **** if Briggs ended up in the hospital because his blood vessel burst from the previous night's drug usage or what not. The bottom line is, 10 years past prime. Vitali could not KO him. Derek Chisora. Took VITALI'S best shots, smiled and said 'COME ON BOY' and kept taking them. Won 5 of 12 rounds against Vitali and pushed Vitali to the deep end. David Haye destroyed Chisora in 5 The old faded walking corpse version of Lennox Lewis took Prime Vitali's best shots and did not even hit canvas. George Foreman was having a god damn heart attack roaring 'TAKE IT VITALI TAKE IT JUST ONE RIGHT HAND COME ON COME ON' Vitali still could not 'take it'. Now I'm a big Vitali fan, but I feel his powers is over rated. Don't get me wrong. It's good and all, but definitely not the ATG Powers my fellow Vitali fans make it out to be.
I say David Haye's power is >then Vitali's power. Chisora is the best indication of that. I don't even think Chisora got a 'granite' chin as some people say. I think Vitali's powers is just a tad over rated.
If you look at Vitali's career before his retirement he has a LOT of early KO's. He certainly had a lot of power back then. Once he came back he changed his style to grind guys down. At this point Vitali really doesn't have power, just volume punching. He breaks you mentally now, rather than blasting you out like he used to. Watch some of Vitali's early fights, he had quite a bit of power 10-15 years ago.
So 10-15 Years ago? He was in the mix? That means he was fighting in the late 90's and contending? Why did he not fight Holyfield, Lewis and them then? Was he too irrelevant then? Did he wait till they all got old or retire?:think I heard he ducked David Tua too. Is this true? You are the Vitali Guru. Let me know. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
I don't know if we've ever really overrated his power much on ESB. It's pretty much accepted that he's an arm puncher and beats his opponents via accumulation.
Who is calling him a murderous puncher? He fights basically like he did in the amateurs but with more seasoning as a pro. He hits good but nothing to write home about. Who was the toughest guy he stopped? Arreola? Sanders (who got stopped by Rahman) ?
I think he could punch much harder in his earlier professional career and during the course of his career injuries and age have taken some of that power away. I wonder if he took any "supplements" that may have caused tendon damage etc.
He can only ko chinny guys and that's always been the case Guys like Arreola etc could have heard them final bell. I think it's fair to say, vitali couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag. He might be able to jab it until it fell over from exhaustion though
